Hi All, I have been pondering the decision to get a DSLR for a while now, and significant issue is figuring out what to do with my current equipment. I have a Contax Aria (love the viewfinder) and 3 CZ primes (28 2.8, 50 1.7, 85 1.4). It seems a shame to ditch the lenses, given that they could be used on a reasonably-priced FF, such as the Sony A850. And it seems that FF is on the cusp of ...

Contax was a great system which is still viable for many applications, IMHO. Biggest complaints about it are that it's not still in production, and never got revved to the 645AF II and thus retained a somewhat failure-prone shutter (in high volume workflows) and slow AF. Ergonomics are excellent, size is great, accessories are vast and varied. Works with rechargeable batteries, has a ...

peppers, You'd have to use HyperSync to increase your sync speed, and unfortunately, it only works with supported Canon DSLRs. HyperSync is dependent on a presync signal from the camera, and that's just not provided by something like your Contax. -Zack from PocketWizard

I would say the grip and the hood for the 80mm, the camera looks bad ass with them :) Anyway all Contax 645 is totally an extortion, much more priced that this stuff should be. I fought a lot on ebay to get good prices on my stuff.

The G2 has better focussing I believe. There are two versions of the G1, the difference being firmware which can be updated. I think it is all about compatibility with lenses which weren't available at the time.
