Today she got her appetite stimulant, and normally she demands food on those days and is very vocal. All she has done all day is lie in silence on the rug in the master bath (not a bad spot, probably the warmest ...

Hi, My mom is 89 yrs old, has severe aortic stenosis, atrial fibrilliation and, now heart failure. She was hospitalized early Sept for 8 days where they diagnosed her fibrillation and put her on amiodarone and coumadin. Her stenosis is being monitored, but she's considered too frail for and doesn't want to endure open heart surgery. Her stenosis is also not considered "critical" yet. ...

She was at the emergency clinic back in march for some vomiting and diarrhea which turned out to be related to the Metacam she was on, and the cough was present then so I asked them to look at her lungs. On x ray the specialist said that her lungs ...

Pat, I'm so sorry to hear about Raleigh having CHF. I saw your post in the CRF list in my email. I just got to read through this thread. My computer crashed last weekend and it's beyond repair. I just got hooked up with DH's old laptop but it's tough to use and isn't reliable so I may not be online regularly for a while till I get a new computer. Know that you and Raleigh will be in my ...

VN vet, I suffer from congestive heart failure. I've had 7 heart attacks, a quad bypass, and 8 stents. I've learned to listen to you doctor. Take the meds he prescribes religiously and stick to a heart healthy diet. I've learned that I can't do alot fo the things I used to be able to do. I've learned that exercise is good, but in my condition, it has to be done in moderation. I've learned...

Thank you, Shisslak. I actually know about that procedure--the trail is also being done in my home town--New York City--but I'm checking the stage the trial is in. Last I checked, they were only accepting people for the phase where they literally flip a coin--depending on the outcome you either have open heart surgery or the new procedure. I don't want to subject my mom to something like ...

if it is untreated, that is, if the heartrate is allowed to be very high for months. Nowadays meds control that. the last time I looked at the wikipedia article it was inaccurately alarmist and very out of date in terms of current treatment.
