Deck 1x Conclave Phalanx The card reads that when Conclave Phalanx comes into play then you gain 1 life for each creature you control. Does this mean that if a second one came into play while another one is currently in play, would the ability activate twice? Once for each of the phalanxs?

Let's say player A controls three Wild Cantor and he wants to cast a Conclave Equenaut . Why can't that player tap all these three Wild Cantor to reduce the cost and then sacrifice them to add to his mana pool to pay Conclave Equenaut 's cost?
