I wrote my "topic of your choice" about the ninjas vs pirates debate. The way I wrote it sounds like a serious research paper, but now that I've finished I'm having second thoughts. If some of you would take a minute to reply, I'd like to get a general vote: will I get points for creativity with the adcoms, or will they dismiss me as not serious enough? I do have a respectable transcript/test ...

I'm finished with my supplement, essay, and Common app EXCEPT for one part. There's a question under the "future plans" part that asks "Do you intend to be a degree seeking student during your first year?" I was a bit confused by what they were asking. Does this mean if i click "yes", I have to declare my major in freshman year or does it mean I have to earn my degree within freshman year...

I've written an essay for the Common App, and I really like it a lot. It's a pretty good representation of me. However, my common app essay will work also a lot to my favor I believe if I used it as a supplement to Princeton and a couple of other schools. I would like to send this essay as a supplement to Princeton and send another essay (which is not bad either, but not as brilliant) as my ...

Hi, I'm applying to some private schools through the Common App this year. I know that most colleges require a high school transcript, but I'm wondering if that also means I need to have a secondary school report filled out by my high school counselor (as opposed to just sending in the transcript). Thanks!

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about the relative importance of supplemental writing/essays versus the general Common App. one. Do you think they are weighted about the same, or are supplements more important because they are specific to a single institution?

if you create a new version of your application (for issues of score reporting and so-forth), do you have to get teachers and your guidance counselor to send recs and forms in again???? or do they just automatically go to the new version? thank you

I spent most of last weekend writing my Common App essay. It is still in a very rough and raw stage, but for the most part the content and subject are solid IMO. I am looking for a well-known poster to read my essay, preferably one who is already in or out of college. Thanks!

I am finally satisfied with my common app essay, or as close to satisfied as I will be. I wrote it on one of those "controversial" topics that only succeed if you present them well. I'm unsure if I accomplished this, so I really need some feedback - editing, reading, etc. Please let me know if you're willing to read it and I will message it to you; no readers from class of 2014, please!!!

I really really want feedback. Just a quick one minute or less read over it for a general overview is greatly greatly appreciated. I got the grammar check done, so all I need is criticism of ideas. Please?

For all the colleges that require you to choose like 3 academic interests that you are interested in, do you have to choose all 3? I only have 1/2, and if I choose a 3rd one, it will be kinda weird and something I have no interest in.

just to make sure: you don't have to have your counselor physically mail your transcript to colleges on the common app, right? they just submit it online?

Okay so extra currics arent my strong point and i already talked about my main and most important one in my essay, and i dont think i should talk about it more in the short answer. the one other thing i can think of writing about is yoga which i have been doing for a few years now. I know this isnt really the type of activity that gets you into college, but i wrote a paragraph about it and i ...

For the common app I have a personal statement that talks about diversity topic. For supplemental I related something about me personally with one of the quotes. The question I have is the Additional Info section on common app. As Amherst is a LAC, what do you recommend: Should I attach a nicely formatted "resume" that details my activities, or should I talk about how much I love certain ...

I just found out I made a so foolish mistake... On my attached resume in the Additional Info part of Common APP. There was a line Small Forward, 2007-2008 and I started next line with As a point guard, I was a teamplayer..... The thing is.. I usually play point guard, but sometimes I subsitute for small forward..I'm not applying as an athelete, so.... Can someone tell ...
