I think that really funny movies, like the Big Lebowski, Shoot 'Em Up, Bowfinger, Anchorman and Being John Malkovich for example would be Best Picture worthy. The Academy doesn't like comedies though but if they should and they would nominate based on how well the comedy was well written in with the story, and the biggest laughs of course.

I do!! The ones they churn out today like FAILURE TO LAUNCH and BRIDE WARS are far from the glory days of ANNIE HALL and WHEN HARRY MET SALLY. The current ones contain stupid characters and are driven by stupid situations. Why can't romance in movies be taken seriously and not be treated as fate through stupidity?

Two fun Sci-fi horror comedies with Barry Corbin, Emmet Walsh ("Blade Runner"), Billy Zane, Scott Grimes, Dee Wallace Stone, Herta Werea ("Coccoon") and Terrence Mann. Both movies are enjoyable and fun yet hilarious b-movies in the tradition of "Gremlins" meets "Terminator 1 & 2" and "Deadly Spawn". Avoid the last two movies, they suck big time. Now part 2 is almost better then the...

Secretary (2002) Just saw this on DVD and it's one of our new favorite Dark Comedies now. Great movie, though the DVD release is pretty bad, could use the blu treatment and I hope it comes soon. Anyone seen this offbeat comedy? I highly recommend if you enjoy dark/offbeat stories....

I thought this was a refreshing interview on Women and Hollywood with the NY Times film critic: http://jezebel.com/5426065/fuck-them...-comedies-s uck Quote: On Bigelow's chances for Oscar or future commercial success: The only thing Hollywood is interested in money, and after that prestige. That's why they'll be interested in something like The ...
