I am looking at a Colt Government Model, Series 70 as a project gun. The finish isn't too bad but there are several aftermarket parts I need to replace with original Colt parts. My biggest concern is the front sight. The current sight MUST go. I don't know how the current sight is mounted, but it is loose. Is it possible to replace the aftermarket sight with a Colt replacement sight? How ...

convince me to enjoy this as a plinker and carry pistol- How well do they hold up to a lifetime of work? I know most of these are safe queens but there has to be someone on here that has shot the crap out of one and can tell me what the weak points are thanks cyclops

It's actually in better condition than I was expecting! Colt gocernment model Mark IV series 80 in 9mm. Very few to any finish flaws or scratches. Not fond of the grips but those will be soon replaced. Trigger is standard Colt, about 5-6 pounds. Could stand to be dressed up a bit, but overall crisp. Range info on this next week.

I'm looking for an unmolested Colt Government. This obviously needs to be a 5" gun (hence Government) and chambered for 45 ACP. I would prefer a Series 70, but let me know what you have. It is for a custom build, so I'm really only interested in a clean frame and slide. Finish doesn't have to be great, but no rust or pitting please. For any of our great dealers, if you have LE pricing on any ...

Thought that this is what I wanted, but guess not. Mirror Blued Colt Government 1911 9MM excellent condition. Don't know if it was fired before me and I only put 200 down the pipe. I buy guns to shoot them. Everything original. Fixed 3 dot sights, Colt emblem wrap around Pachmayrs. Manufactured in 1991 according to Colt. Not a photographer as you can see, but if you want more pictures let me know...

This pair of grips were made from legally imported ivory. We are the exclusive providers of ivory grips for the Colt Custom Gun Shop. We have also successfully sold our grips on ebay for the last twelve years. Ebay's currant ban of ivory products has caused us to sell elsewhere, such as Gunbroker. We also have an elaborate web site called NutmegSports.com from which we sell ivory grips at a much ...

My friend has a Colt U.S. Government 1911. The serial number indicates is was manufactured between 1918-1919. It is in good condition - no rust/worn blued. The wood grips have a small chip out of them near the bottom. It seems fully functional. Any idea of its value? Anything I should be looking for to determine its value?

Condition and originality, condition and originality. Show pictures on the USGI section here. Dollar value can be substantial, like a couple thousand, if it is in good shape and has all original parts.

Boy, I dunno. $500 is a VERY good price for a S70 Colt in any sorta decent shape. Makes me wonder why it's so inexpensive. For a project gun, though, heck, why not.

The post I saw spoke specifically of the Colt Mustang. But I've only seen one such claim. Frankly, I've never seen a colt .380 of the recent generation that has been shot much at all. Most of us that own and like those little Colts have bought a P238 so we can have something to shoot and carry. Now Sig needs to come out with a slightly bigger version like the Govt .380, and we'll all buy ...
