I have some old software for DOS which can still run within a "command prompt" box in Win98/XP/Vista/7. The programs work correctly for Win98 "MSDOS prompt", both in window and full-screen. So I'm messing with my reference photo (particularly the background) so I can find a suitable harmonious color scheme before I start painting. I'm not very good with color. I mean I'm not awful, but I don't have the artist's intuition for it necessarily either. I use three computers. I've noticed that the colors I've set in workbooks on one machine don't quite match the colors in the same workbooks in another machine. Strike Freedom in white looks gorgeous, but that custom colored Hi-Nu is soso. I like the original better... Yeah Hi-Nu in Nu colors could be nice, what about Reborns colors?

zaMmaP You also have to consider what emotion you want to convey example: yellow: sunny, happy, shock, bright deep purple: dark, sad, depressed True, true. I don't really have one in mind...bold and masculine? But I'm more worried about color harmony. Thank you!

Lucky - strongly suggest you look at the reply given to you by p45cal before changing system properties. In addition you can simply 'reset' the default 56 colour palette (manually or programmatically) In Excel 2007, although the 56 colour palette still works (sort of), workbooks now use "Themes", see PageLayout, Themes and/or ...
