Check out Hayleigh's creations. She does "charms" for hearing aids and cochlear implants and clip or pierced earrings. I've already asked her to make me a cat charm. The holiday penguins are cute too. http://www.hayleighscherishedcharms.com/

"The Deaf Community opposed the use of cochlear implants." Says who!? I am a profoundly deaf member of the Deaf Community. I use ASL to communicate, and am NOT opposed to cochlear implants, like 98% of the Deaf Community. The myth that the Deaf Community is opposed to cochlear implants is a political invention created by those who do not sign, nothing more or less. The media, please STOP ...

So, I thought this could be a good debate! How do you feel about cochlear implants for deaf children? Is it child abuse to put them in? Is it child abuse not to? My six-year-old son is profoundly deaf and we have decided against cochlear implants for a number of reasons. For one thing, he is proficient with sign language and has no problem communicating effectively. For another, it is ...

I lost one of my rechargeable battery for my Cochlear implant because it died on me when I was out in town so I don't know what happened to it. I am depending on one rechargeable battery that only last me about 8 hours. I had a regular hearing aid battery backup but I lost that too (I believe it fell on the floor and I probably vacuumed it up. I remember placing it on my shelf... and now it was ...

Didn't have heart attack, or heart disease. Doesn't know what caused chest pains. Likely a symptom of synthetic opiod abuse. Lovely cochlear ear implant.

Momofsweetone.......I would totally look into the Auditory Brainstem implant, and look into ASL too. Although I'm kind of confused about why she can't use hearing aids if her loss is only severe. If she had the type of loss that nesscestates an ABI she would have a total and complete profound loss. Are you sure you're not confused? Maybe a good idea might be to get a referral to a university/...

To the OP: Good luck with your decision. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer, I think you need to decide what's best for your family. I think you need to decide if the benefits outweigh the risks, but you also don't need to decide right now, so that's a good thing. OT: Comparing this to cochlear implants is not the same, like comparing it to circumcision. I'm not deaf, but...

Longhorn : Dec. 31, 2009 - 6:44 AM EST  The interesting thing is that Rush's show is still #1 even when it has a guest host. Like during those weeks he was gone after having the cochlear implants a few years ago., or the weeks he took off for the oxycontin rehab. The ratings never suffered during either of those lengthy absences, and his substitutes can be just as insightful in ...
