Maybe I'm reading too much into this, and hopefully someone can explain this to me. How is it that you will never see a nativity scene at any local government offices or at the white house, however they allow Rahm to light a huge mehnora on the WH south lawn? Why is it in the eyes of the ACLU the creche violates the separation of church and state but the mehnora ...

Please tell Ben Nelson it is called separation of church and state! Mr. Nelson and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops said Thursday that they could not accept Mr. Casey’s initial proposal, in part because they saw money from the government and premiums as fungible. http://www.nytimes.com/200 9/12/19/health/policy/19he alth.html "I am not the Catholic candidate for ...

The dividing line between dogma and goverment has been blurry so many times in the past. To me, this line is paramount to the well-being of a nation. God has NO place in government, to me. If a god is allowed to rule a nation through interpertation, what's stopping said conduit of divinity from descending into tyrancy? Essentially nothing tangible (in a dogmatic nation that is). I think ...

I don't care how many other threads there have been in the past. And, no, I don't think it's a topic for the religion forum. The Constitution says, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." Your interpretation as it relates to religion in politics today, please.

The reason for Separation of Church and State is not to keep the church out of the goverment, but to keep the goverment out of the church. The England of 1700's had a goverment that would imprison those who did not join the church of England. Our founding fathers did not want that to happen for our new nation. Thus the seperation of church and state.

I was on a different site, and a thought came to me. We often hear how the state should be separate from the church. I'll tell ya right now, it hasn't been for a long time, and frankly telling me it is, is an assault on my intellect. Let me explain. How many of our laws really only exist for the simple truth that most people are of some form of religious belief? How many of ...
