Hey all.  I have an interesting question: I am making a very low budget piece of electronic equipment for mass production.  We have circuits on two separate boards and it occurred to us that we could save big $$$ by sending Vcc (5VDC) to the second board from the first ***through the chassis*** (saving us a difficult wiring job). I have seen people use the positive terminal of a 9V battery ...

( Grounds can be whatever voltage, relative to the actual supply; that's a separate question than using the chassis for any current flow. Using the chassis as a power rail is BAD; don't do it.  The reasons are legion: >   Introduction of noise into the circuitry.  The chassis is basically a giant antenna, and will pick up more noise than a wire will. >   Someone touching the chassis will add ...

Can anyone explain why there are resistors from the input directly to the chassis? I'm talking about the resistors directly from the RCA jack to the ground/chassis. Usually they are about 10uF, but much lower on the turntable inputs (which makes sense because of the lower output)... I'm assuming they help isolate any static or humming that may be found on the chassis....... yes?

Hi folk, I'm installing a 300 watt amp to power my Alpine Type-S 6.5 inch speakers. I've mounted the amp under the passenger side dash with my power hooked up to the battery and the ground hooked up to a screw/bolt combo to the left and above the battery. Even though this appears to be a good ground area, I'm still getting a lot of engine feedback in my speakers. This is also not the ...

I have a 95 Chrysler seabring v6 2.5L. I put a brand new 350 dollar distributor on it and it started up like new. It had a bad ground that was wearing off from age and sitting so long. The ground goes from the battery to the chassis of the car. about a foot away. With the battery still connected I was checking it out and I pulled it off the chassis. So I then dissconnected the battery and fix ...

as I'm getting my harness in, some ground lines ask to go to engine ground (speedo sender (autometer hall effect type), few other things) and other items just say to ground or chassis ground. Is it critical to connect the engine ground items to the actual engine, or can they go to chassis? Also, on a 351w, where is the best place for a engine ground? Can I use one spot and combine several ...
