Normal commercial lay in ceilings have the insulation on the ceiling tile. You can buy it as 2x4 batts, faced or unfaced. Typical would be 6" faced with the VB against the tile (toward the conditioned space). -- ______________________________ Keep the whole world singing . . . . DanG (remove the sevens)

Received a call to inspect an occupied 40 year old home to investigate why the bathroom ceiling collapsed. As soon as I walked inside, I noticed the drywall ceilings (entire home, both floors) were dropping at the center of each 4x8 sheet. In the attic, I discovered the drywall was only glued from seam to seam!! The glue gave way over time. Only nailed along the length of the drywall sheets....

Hi all, could anyone please advise if it is OK to have a full tile next to the ceiling. I have 33x25cm tiles with a 7.5cm border. If I have a full tile 2mm above the bath it works out there is a gap of about 3mm between the last tile and ceiling, although I realize that this will vary with the ceiling level. The reason for my question is that, setting out posts I have read, seem to say to go for ...

We are moving a stud wall in the room to make an ensuite so it may get damaged in the process. I am wondering that i am pretty sure that the small void above ceiling and the house roof is going to have no insulation and it is...

We have a bedroom which is over a garage and as you can imagine its the coldest room in the house. I was thinking that there ought to bean easy way to insulate this, perhaps with stick on polystyrene on the garage ceiling(100mm thick), the sort of stuff fitted in cavity walls. Is this a practical way of doing it and if so what sort of glue would be needed. Any ideas/suggestions would be ...

I have a ceiling fan in my living room without lights in it. I'd like to pick up a new ceiling fan with lights, and I'm wondering if all the wiring will be there. Can I replace the current lightless fan with a fan w/ a light? Do I just buy a regular dimmer switch? Thanks!
