Right................my oil consumption shot through the roof when TWS became difficult to get. Castrol disscontinued TWS and offered 10-60 and told us/me that it was the same. I haven't checked the posts lately but in case it hasn't been posted, Kragen O'Reilly has a deal (with coupon) for Castrol Edge for $5.99/qt (min 5 qts) running from 11/18-12/29. Combined with the $15 rebate from Castrol, that's about $3/qt + tax

Plus they're stocking the german castrol in warm-weather states (or at least my las vegas store). Does anyone know of a place still selling this in So Cal? I am using Maxima Castor which has that smell, but it is expensive. We used to use plain old castor oil from the drug store, dump a little in the gas in our go kart and it has the smell, What would be the cheapest castor smellin stuff to buy? castor oil to make soap i saw on a web site?

Running a S13 CA18DET with 80k miles, stage 1 at 1 bar of boost, want to give it an oil change with fully synthetic, but dont know whats the best grade, castrol website recomend 10w60 fully???? is that to thick? or is 5w40 good? ive seen the 0w40 but would that be too thin?

Just wondering how long you guys run your 2.2s between oil changes. Also, what oil/filter you run. I've been changing every 3000miles/6months for the past couple of years with a Castrol GTX/Fram filter combo (soo cheap from walmart). I've recently moved a bit out of the city so I'll be putting on more miles commuting. I picked up some Pennzoil Platinum and a Wix filter for my next change...

I checked my oil level through the MMI menu couple of nights ago and noticed it was 2 notches down from the full level. knowing the oil level was low, I opened my 4.4L bottle of Castrol 5w-40 syntech. Wrong move, because pouring the 4.4L into the engine could result in overfill; which was what happended to me. the worst part is I didn't notice it until today, because MMI system took a while to do...

BMW is weird, they Spec BMW LL-01 5w-30, Castrol Syntech Euro Formula 0w-30, Mobil1 0w-40 euro formula, PP Euro Formula 5w-30, Valvoline SynPower 5w-30. All these oils are synthetic (but you knew that). Why spec bmw LL-01 5w-30 and not M1 5w-30? " " Valvoline SynPower 5/30 and not the others? Why not Spec any Quaker State synthetic?
