Not sure if this will be of benefit or not. I have been running the 5/30 Castrol Syntec in my car. Autozone has 5 1/2 Qt jugs on sale w/ a K&N oil filter for $27.99 through Weds. I bought 2, so I got 10+ qts of oil and 2 filters for about $60 + tax...Good deal in my opinion.. Steve

Is castrol syntec blend any better than gtx?

I was looking at the cSt #s and I see that the syntec blend not the full syntec is a little thicker than gtx in 5w30. Are these oil very close to the same or is the syntec blend better? Also the 5w30 syntec blend says it meets ACEA A1. Anyone know what that is?

castrol syntec 5w-30 vs 5w-40

I know Castrol Syntec 5W-40 is on the approved list, but Castrol Syntec 5W-30 is not. Would using 5W-30 have any adverse affects?

AMSOIL & Castrol Syntec

Does anyone happen to have, or know of, comparable UOAs of similar AMSOIL & Syntec motor oils? I know this is a shot in the dark, but as similar of vehicles as possible and common oil weights (plus the possibility of the same lab) could give a fairly decent idea of the two. I've searched and not come up with much in hand. VOAs would be icing on the cake! Thanks in advance.

I finally have the results from the used oil analysis. Due to work, I was only able to put 6,269 km / 3,895 miles on the FJ since Spring. It obviously sat around a lot in my garage, and did mostly short trips

Hi guys, It's been a while since I last posted. I drive a 2008 Chevrolet Impala with the 3.5L Flex-Fuel engine. I routinely run Pennzoil/Chevron 5W-30 Dino following the OLM down to 0-5% which here in warm Tucson can be up to 12500 miles if all driving is warmed up freeway driving.
