Ran across a gun shop that had several very nice M1 Carbines from the Detroit PD armory (stamped DPD at the bottom of the grip area). Didn't think to ask at the time who was distributing them - none of the usual C&R suspects (Century, SOG, etc.) seem to have them. Thought maybe someone at THR might know?

The asking prices of .30 M1 US Carbines have gotten pretty high. At the gun shows, POS's have a price of around $600-$800, and nice pieces with early features or unsanded stocks are around $1500 (or more). Who woulda thunk? I've no interest in them; fortunately for me my interest in them occurred years ago when they were much cheaper. New USGI parts? Same story, huge prices.

Local gunshow here in Bakersfield, CA was this weekend. I got there late Sunday afternoon. Absoluletly nothing I couldn't live without. Sticker shock on some M1 Carbines. One Carbine that the seller claimed was an all correct, all original Saginaw Gear was marked at $3700. Another seller had 5 Carbines all in the $1200 range. Yet, 2 tables away there were Carbines in the $800 range...

So CMP has begun accepting orders for returned M1 carbines issued to Bavarian LE agencies post-WWII. $575-$650 depending on type and grade. The wife has stated that such a rifle might qualify as a Christmas present from her to me. So, anybody have input on these carbines WRT price, condition, desirability, etc? Any advice on getting service grade over rack grade? EDIT: ...or should I go with...

After shooting a member's Uzi carbine in 9mm a couple years back, i havent shook that urge to get one of my own. Are there any comparable carbines in 9mm (9x19) on the market? I swear you could fire that thing and just watch the bullet hit in the middle of the peep sight. High cap mags and something that has minimal wood is a plus... (C&R would be a huge plus, but I doubt that kind of...

Was wondering what folks know about the 44automag round, how it compares to its rimmed version, and whether anyone makes carbines for them. Seems that would be a fantastic duo! I wish I was more of a revolver and lever-action guy, I'm sure I'd already have that combo (possibly in 45LC). But a 44automag autoloader & autoloading carbine combo would be freakin' sahweeet! Has ...

While I was at work, I look though a local sporting good distributor web-page. They got in a lot of Detroit PD M1 Carbines. They are asking between 500-700 for them, this is dealer price. We all at work wanted to know what the going rate is for M1 Carbines now. It seems like they should retail for around $750ish, and that’s for a great one. What a good M1 worth today I found the same gun(...

OK, I like em...a lot. I have a few questions though: 1. Does anybody use the hot +P+ 9mm Double Tap? 2. If so, have you put the chronograph on them to check the velocity? 3. Noise, How loud compared to a 9mm pistol, or AR-15. Oh yea, show em if you got em (pics)

No, not one of THOSE carbines... Today I picked up a Spanish Mauser Cavalry Carbine I bought on another forum. The seller thought it was a 1916 carbine but I can't find reference to a full stocked 1916. It matches the 1895 carbine EXCEPT for the gas relief that I can't find on any pics of an 1895. I haven't taken pics yet but I did copy the ones from the ad to see if we can figger this ...

This is an alert to a growing problem with commercially produced and sold rifles/carbines being remarked with Brit Military proofs and royal cypher. Afghanistan purchased large quantities of arms from BSA&M in the 1890s. These bear commercial proofs and just the marking "BSA&M Co" on the right side of the receiver. The forgers are now adding the royal cyper and Enfield proof marks to these ...

Afternoon all! I'm considering the three rifles / carbines above for self / home defense for my wife. I already own rifles that I would choose personally, but they may be a bit too heavy or have too much recoil for my wife to use. I know that if an actual emergency arose, she could deal with it, but I think she'd be more inclined to practice shooting if the rifle wasn't to heavy and hard ...

Hello all. I have been reading on THR forums for a long time, but I am a new member. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a modern revolving carbine. I have seen muzzleloader revolving carbines and I've also seen the Uberti 1873, but I am more interested in a .22 LR caliber model. Does anyone know of any .22 LR caliber revolver that the barrel can be switched out on? What I was thinking of...

This just in from the January 2010 issue of Guns and Ammo : "Collectors and aficionados of the Garand rifle----good news! The South Korean army and navy will be shipping a reported 86,000 M1s and 22,000 M1 carbines to the U.S. for sale in 2010. ..." The article goes on the say that the rifles were used in the Korean and Vietnam wars, then given to the South Koreans by one of our aid ...
