I am hoping I could get some helpful advice on our upcoming Canadian Rockies vacation we have planned for Aug 2010. We are from the Midwest and will be driving to Canada as a family which includes myself, my wife and three teenage daughters. Hi All- Thanks for your help in advance. My sister and I are early thirties and taking our first trip to the Rockies this summer 2010 from Portland area. As far as timing, we were thinking about late July-is that a good time to come? What about September-is that too late in the season? We like to do the touristy things and also hike around(4-5miles ideal), explore and enjoy...

Hey everyone -- I'm a first time poster, so apologies if there are any key details I miss or if this is utterly redundant! I am getting married next year in October, and my fiancee and I are highly interested in a 5-10 day train tour which would cover Lake Louise/ Banff and either start or end in Vancouver . We'd like a mix of leisurely sight-seeing and more active ...

St_Louis_Traveler3 Greetings from a snowy Banff All looks good - with 9 nights in the area, you will have time to visit all the popular sights as well as have a few relaxing, or full activity days (ie. whitewater rafting, full day hike, horseback riding, etc). Both Banff and Jasper townsites are good bases to day trip (Lake Louise, Yoho, Kootenay and ...

In straight driving time (no stopping for sights), Jasper to Calgary is a five hour drive - about 3.5 hours to Banff , and another 1.5 to Calgary. That's still a long way, and not ideal unless you have a late flight. Where to stay your last night really depends on what time your flight is - LL, Banff, Canmore or Calgary?

in snow and freezing conditions (-10 some days). The battery lasted all day without needing to changeover. The only issue I had was managing the camera controls with gloves, took them off most of the time. The plastic bag is a good tip. Cheers Dennis

There is plenty to see and do in Banff and Jasper - you will have no trouble filling nine days, whether in one, or both. While you are in Jasper, I would suggest a day trip into British Columbia to see Mt. Robson, the highest peak in the Cdn. Rockies. It's a one hour - and very scenic - drive west of the town of Jasper. As for further information and ideas of ...
