I have seen a couple of these on an auction here but I have never heard about this winery before. They just looked interesting. all bottles have a level filling. Are there anybody here that can give some information this winery?

Happy Birdday everybody! I had '88 Calon Segur lined up (recent post), but this was in the stand-up case and demanded drinking. Spinning plastic capsule with tear-off top, bottom neck fill, bought, fine provenance ?10? years ago. Beautiful autumnal aromas, fully mature, not old, an abundance of red currants. Light to medium bodied on the palate, perfect refresher to the ponderous dinner. ...

1992 Clos du Val Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District - USA, California, Napa Valley, Stags Leap District (11/25/2009) Absolutely gorgeous bottle of wine that was still very much alive with some good years left in it. Nose came with plum, leather, spice and forest scents. Medium bodied with just a beautiful texture and very restrained tannins. Flavors included a nice mixture of cigar...

Having sampled the quite nice 2002 Hopper Creek Sonoma Valley Cabernet last week, I pulled this from my closet last night. Bell shares a private road with Hopper Creek. A hint of French funk on this one, but not obtrusive in any way and I like a little Brett. Just a little. Nose showed the alcohol a bit (14.6%), but not too obtrusive once you actually drink it. Smokey oak...the label ...

TN: 1947 Louis M. Martini Cabernet Sauvignon California Mountain 1947 Louis M. Martini Cabernet Sauvignon California Mountain - USA, California, Napa Valley (11/23/2009) Absolutely stunning. Far and above the best old wine I have ever tasted, and showing almost perfect. From the same vines that I farm today (planted in '38), these...

Decent out of the bottle, the corners knocked off with an hour decant. Cherry, ripe plums, with maybe a bit of cranberry tucked back there. Good first sip, then the mid-palate just disappears. Soft tannins, decent acidity, moderate oak. Some will like this, but I feel like I overpaid at $16. Drink or hold short term. 86pts.

I havn't had th 07 but I tried the 06 awhile ago for I think it cost $9.99. It was a decent Qpr I thought. I recently had the 2006 Hess Allomi Vineyard Napa Cab that was much better for $13.

Tight out of the bottle, evaluated after a two hour decant, and the next day. Rich soft nose of blueberry and red licorice. Good concentration, juicy mouthful of ripe sweet blueberry, cherry, with a nice backbone of tannin and just enough acidity to keep it from veering toward flabbiness. Tastes like some merlot was added to the blend. An excellent QPR. Drink with decant or hold. 93pts....

Very tight out of the bottle, and for the first couple of hours. Recorked, put in fridge and reevaluated the next day. Expressive nose of dark fruit, touch of heat and barnyard. Not bomby, but a big juicy mouthful of fruit, moderate oak, some peat moss, minerality, savory herbs, good acidity. Good stout tannins, so drink with a long decent, or preferably hold for a few years. Excellent QPR...

IB, I have not held any that long. Always hard to predict the future of any wine, but all the vintages I've drunk certainly appear to have enough stuffing to last a while. Always a good dose of tannins and that rich, dark fruit.

Do pinots have higher acidity than cabs? I take medication for acid reflux and have noticed that I have less acid reflux when I drink a cab versus a pinot.

Why is it that, even though wine.woot very rarely sells cosher wines (and states that it is indeed cosher when they do, no?), people discuss the cosherness for every wine we get? Purely curious. Is cosher wine extra-tasty?

Re: TN: 1947 Louis M. Martini Cabernet Sauvignon California Mountain Tom, Hank auctioned much of his wine at Butterfield & Butterfield (now Bonham) and I was fortunate to have been the winning bidder on a number of Louis Martini's Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. For the most part these wines are superb. Particularly the 1958, 1964 ...

had a bottle of the '92 knight's valley recently and that sucker still could have used a few more years in the cellar (not that i have a cellar). it simply amazes me that they are able to produce these long-lived bottlings and release them at such a reasonable price. sorta makes you wonder why some other folks charge so much for their juice.
