I'm trying to overclock my cpu and I'm using both CPU-Z and CoreTemp to watch my temps and such, but under the multipliers for both it's using x6 instead of x9, even when I'm using Prime95. Under the BIOS settings it's set for 345x9, so that should be ~3.0GHz. If I click properties on My Computer it shows up as Q6600 @ 2.4GHz 3.11 GHz, so at least it somehow knows that it has a max of 3.11. ...

Most of us wants top speed. Some of us need top mhz so badly, and forget about performance at all. Just RAW MHZ . At that ancient times, when Intel failed to release 4GHz stock CPU, hardware lurkers with LN2 already got better clocks. Waaaay better... These journey is available to everybody. Just need some time, some knowledge, and a lot of LN2 Xtremelabs.org team benched some ...

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to post my readings so maybe someone with the i5 750 2.66 and the P55M-UD2 Motherboard could give me some ideas on what to change to overclock my system a little. Right now, I'm just running the stock cooler but plan to order a better one from NEWEGG next month. Thanks!

If you do not know what CPU Z is, its a multi utility application that detects your CPU, mainboard, memory graphics etc and gives you technical feedback on your specs. Most people use it just to see their overclock and voltage on the processor, some use it for other aspects. eitherway you can download it here http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php here is mine : I am using stock cooling so I cant...

Look, I don't know that much about ram, or your Mobo/proc/memory combo but, 1. If CPU-Z is your only source of (sensory) information about you'r RAM, I'd take it with a grain of salt. It's been misrepresenting my hardware specs for years. And 2. I'm not sure how your bios is set up, but you should set the RAM speed to 1066 not 533. 533 Mhz is PC 4200. You're running PC 8500. And ...

Today i managed to get into a overclocking mood again sense i recently got into the 4.0Ghz club ( ). But when I was over clocking i originally hit 4.4Ghz with my e5200. Today i went for my first run and managed to get 4.5Ghz stable and i validated on CPU-Z with my email and the name Chosen. I haven't received any emails on my validation from CPU-Z though. Then after i did 4.5Ghz i went for 4.6Ghz...

My motherboard is a gigabyte P35-Ds3l. Video card is an 8800GT. I noticed in CPU-Z that the link width for my PCI-E 16x slot is running at 2x out of a max of 16x. There is nothing in the BIOS to change this setting. I beleive this is the cause of low frame rates while playing UT3 lately.... I know my BIOS is not updated, and I plan on doing that ...

Quoting Isme Heh heh - now if only the memory vendors will package the memory with all the possible settings. Unfortunately in their haste to market memory as simple to install, many vendors fail to advertise any but the most basic settings (likePC2-8500) -- leaving it to the user community to discover and then seed the settings to the internet. ANd that ...

Yeah don't do that. Speedstep is usally listed as EIST in the BIOS. Anyways don't worry about it. If Windows lists your CPU as 3.11 GHz then that means that your CPU will reach that speed when needed. Speedstep is a feature that reduces your CPUs speed when you don't need it (idling, web browsing, etc.) but clocks it back up when you are doing something CPU intensive (gaming, video encoding, etc...
