@14.13, Au @1154.80, Ag @17.90 means that CEF NAV= 13.31 or a premium of 6.2%. One of the lowest I've seen! Best to all. g-9 (CEF calculator utilized here)

It's fairly easy to get a graph of the discount trend of a given CEF - it can be done at CEFConnect, or using data from Yahoo! Finance (there are probably other ways). What I'd like to be able to easily do is to see the discount trend (last week/month/year or so) for a CEF sector (domestic equity, muni bonds) or even the CEF market as a whole. against computer programs in CEFs.......... ie. when enter a CEF order..............within second or less am bettered by a penny...........no human could do such........ nor could the penny better have existed before my order......as would have shown.......save some 'fancy footwork' orders........... suppose is just part of the 'game'........but still do not like such......

You don't mention the danger of confiscation . Canada and the USA have cooperated with each other for a long time . In a systemic collapse , a collapse of the US $ or a continued drop in the US $ value , the one thing that might restore faith in the US$ as a reserve currency would be to make it convertable-exchangeable for Gold , at least to Central Banks, Big Hedge funds and perhaps to the top ...

Good points about mines. I do own some mining stocks, but they do have their own risks. Personally I believe the risk of nationalization of Mexican Mines and other South American mines is greater than bullion confiscation. Also the risk of significant corruption in Chinese/Russion mines could eliminate any gains for foriegn investors. And that nationalization would happen before...
