You know, it never occurred to me that I could take an old CD ROM drive and easily convert it to a standalone CD player. The type that has that 4 pin analog audio output on it anyway. I wonder though if anyone has done this and how good/bad the audio is coming out of one? Is it of reasonable fidelity? I have been told conflicting methods of cleaning my cd/dvd rom drives. I was wondering if possibly someone could shine some light on this topic. I use air with short blasts because of the freezing factor. I had a Plextor tech tell me over the phone a couple of years ago to never use anything that touches the lased head, and that made sense to me.
