Lets say Capps will need about 3.5 or 4 mil this year. Why not check with Cleveland before you sign him to see how much of Woody's contract they will eat. Give me back Woody anyday.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, free agent reliever Matt Capps is "high" on the Angels' wish list this winter. Capps has drawn interest from close to a dozen teams since the Pirates non-tendered him a week ago. The 26-year-old had a disappointing 2009 season but boasts a 3.61 career ERA and has issued only 50 walks in 271 2/3 career innings. He's thought to be in search of a ...

Although Capps value to the Pirates was questionable, the blunder that NH made, prior to his non-tender, is not. If reports are correct, the failure to work out a trade for him in the Winter Meetings, falls at Frank and Neal's feet. If, in fact, their non-tender intentions were leaked prior to the meetings, then if it wasn't them they need to find out who it was...and fire them! IMO, the way ...

A pair of new names popped up on the Diamondbacks' radar this weekendin reliever Matt Capps and second baseman Kelly Johnson, two playerswho were not tendered contracts by their previous teams, thus becomingfree agents. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/diamondbacks/artic les/2009/12/14/20091214diamondbacks-free-agents121 5.html Could be okay.

I was watching MLB channel this morning and they were discussing Matt Capps and I thought to myself he might be worthwhile as a potential closer. Then I read in the washington post this morning that not only are the Nats interested, but we're on his short list, too, since he's more likely to get a chance as a closer here in DC. Elsewhere, he's more likely to get a set-up role. Even with...

Quote: The Nats have serious interest in reliever Matt Capps, formerly of the Pittsburgh Pirates. And Capps has serious interest in the Nats. Capps, non-tendered over the weekend, has attracted interest from roughly a dozen teams, but his agent, Paul Kinzer, said that the Nats are in a group of six or seven finalists. Within a few days, Capps wants to further narrow ...

I remember in Clevland a decade ago when they locked up their young players to long term contracts. The Pirates can do the same thing with their young studs (Bixler, Moss) with the money they saved from fat boy Capps

Capps draws heavy interest By Dejan Kovacevic | 3:24 p.m. Monday It appears immensely unlikely that Matt Capps will be returning to Pittsburgh, based on the volume of interest in the 48 hours since the Pirates released him late Saturday. No fewer than eight suitors are known to have made contact with Capps' agent, Paul Kinzer, including the Rangers, Rockies, Marlins, Cardinals, Cubs and ...

I like Capps. He had issues, but he also has guts. Maybe the Mets will sign him to set up Rodriguez. Unfortunately for Capps. his playoff chances will actually get worse that way.

According to multiple reports on Sunday afternoon, the Cubs are interested in Matt Capps ... and Capps is interested in the Chicago Cubs. Capps was non-tendered on Saturday by the Pirates. Some called the non-tender a surprise but Capps is coming off a horrible year. Capps made $2.4 million in 2009 and posted a 4-8 record with a 5.80 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP. Capps saved 27 games but blew five ...

Looks like some decent bullpen help was non-tendered. D.J. Carrasco led MLB in relief innings with a 3.76 E.R.A. and Matt Capps (27 saves last year) is a low BB/9in. pitcher. Something the Cubbies havent seen much of outta the bullpen last year. On a side note, Matt Capps shares agents with A.Ram. I think either or both of these 2 pitchers would be an improvement from the Heilman/Gregg duo. Im...

Sorry for starting another non-tender thread, but the Pirates non-tendered Matt Capps. This is a profoundly stupid move. Like, unless he has an injury nobody knows about (like his arm fell off since last season), the Pirates jettisoned a bona fide MLB closer after a single bad season. This guy throws strikes and lots of them. Career MLB bb/9 of 1.7. In 2008, he had a sub-1 WHIP. For ...

I must say I was a little surprised by this move. This team really is cheap. I mean how much could he have cost through arbitration? He made $2.425 million last year, sure he gets a raise but it wouldn't be that big in the grand scheme of things in baseball. I can't see a scenario that doesn't have this team lose 85 or 90 games. Another wasted season.

Miller, Arrendondo, Capps. Three talented and young pitchers the O's may want to consider. Capps is certainly a possible option for the pen. Arrendondo is a hard thrower but faces TJ surgery. He would be a long term investment for 2011. Miller dominated minor league ball for much of his career. He just can't seem to get the tendon problem in his finger straightened out.

There are sure some solid players who could really help teams in financial trouble or in a small market. Solid players: J.Cust(poor mans A.Dunn) M.Capps(stuff is solid) G.Atkins(for what he'll sign for...why not!) J.Gomes(maybe just a platoon....but a great one) C.Wang(duh...take a chance for cheap in HR-prone home stadiums w/ his gb-rates) R.Church(easy choice) K.Johnson(maybe the nicest ...
