TO CLARIFY: clostridium difficile (C. diff.) is a spore forming organism. If C. diff. spores can be eradicated, can anthrax (another spore former) also be eradicated? In these experiments C. diff. is a surrogate for anthrax. This is the bioterrorism prevention angle which people occasionally refer to.

C-diff is found in poop. I have c-diff patients every day I work. Its not a big deal just alot of smelly diarrhea and it will go away. I would however not breastfeed again. You can carry c-diff in your system for a while after you test negative and your LO can get it through BM. I wouldn't take that chance becuase when babies get it, its much more severe and dangerous.

C-Diff travels fast in weakened patients. My mother (93)was recovering from a broken hip in the hospital when she got C-Diff. Within 4 days she passed away. They could not operate, C-Diff had already perferated the bowels.
