Hello, A quick scan of the FAQs and previous posts didn't turn up anything along this problem so... I've got a '05 Baja with ~70K miles on it (minor non-turbo related mods). I've been running Mobil 1 5W/30 since the first change and have always noticed that it will use a bit of oil between my 7500 mile changes. It's garage parked and I don't see any leak evidence, so I tried an ...

Hi friends and a Happy New Year!!! I have the following question. When I go out of my car after aggressive driving I can clearly feel the smell of burning oil near the front of my car. So is it normal, or not? Aggressive driving which I mean is just stepping on the gas pedal to the floor and running engine to 6500 RPM every time you begin driving and nothing more crazy (like drifting, or ...

I have a freshly built 1100. Its a 1277cc 10:1 motor with a ported head, web cams, built bottom end. I just picked up this bike from the guy who had it built and he said that it was all just recently done. Is is normal for the bike to burn oil while running? and what would cause this?

I have a 2003 A6 2.7T. I recently had the 85k/mi maintenance performed by a garage I have been happy with for routine maintenance. When I got my car back I noticed a strong burnt synthetic smell once the car warmed up. Could be oil, coolant, Pwer Steering fluid. Not sure. The cooling fan will also stay on for about 20 minutes after the car has been shut off (didn't do this ...

Everyone with the rev-up motor NOT burning oil, please post your miles and the year of your car. Thanks! Those who have have their motors replaced, can ignore this, because you guys have a totally different motor.

Ok so i noticed that i am burning oil at a moderate rate. i have oil in the spark plug tubes, a pretty substantial amount in spark plugs 2 and 3. I replaced the valve cover gasket and the spark plug grommets that come with the kit. a couple days later i check the spark plug tubes and i still have oil in there. Any suggestions? Kyle

Well, I was driving my M3 the other day, and oil engine light came on. I have close to 7000 miles on the ODO and had my service done at 1300 mile, and next service isn't due till 10,000 mile. So, I went to the dealership and bought a qt of oil and filled it up. I was told by the dealership that this is quite normal for these motor. I have never heard of a new engine burning oil since like ...

So, my GT-S has been burning oil about a quart and a half after 2500 miles or so. My mechanic recommends me to use synthetic blend 10W-30 and added Lucas oil stabilizer on my next oil change (somewhere next week). I've been using Mobil1 Fully Synthetic 5W-30 since the first oil change (back in 2000). I have few questions. Is it safe to downgrade the oil from fully synthetic to syntehtic ...

Hey I just had a quick question. I have an 02 s2000 with 174k on the clock. I just recently installed a spoon n1 single with a test pipe. I know ap1's burn oil but I had not noticed any oil burning prior to installing the exhaust. Basically my question is can the exhaust with test pipe contribute to my oil burning? I notice when I'm at a light for a min and I take off I see some ...

Hello folks, I don't think I've posted here before, but I've lurked for years. I thought I would contribute on one of my favorite subjects, burning wmo or waste motor oil. I have heated my shop for the last 10 years with wmo using several different methods from converted wood stoves to a factory built Clean Burn stove. My latest is my best and favorite solution, although I ...

Just got my first oil change for my brand new 2010 Forester (Thurs). After driving around for about an hour (after the oil change), I noticed a burning smell when I pulled into my garage. I could smell it outside of the car, not in the cabin. Now (next day) smell is still there but not as strong. I'm guessing some oil spilled somewhere and is being burned off??? (I don't know jack ...
