Here is my third knife. I forged it from a Nicholson file and the hardware is mild steel. The handle is from an elk shed and the wood was a firewood giveaway from burl source. Made these a while back...using maple burl caps...Birdseye Maple! The bowl is still in the works...not finished by any means. I still have 15-20 burl slabs from the caps in various stages of completeness with the exception of the clock works. I'll get those when I know what I want for each individual piece. Enjoy the pics.

Had a buddy of mine pull out a knife that I gave him about a year ago....yearly sharpening before the start of gun season....I made the handles out of stabilized maple burl. It seemed like the wood swelled. There is like a lip around the edges, and the brass pins are under the wood line. He keeps them in a drawer, and I know he's taken care of it. So I came across some really nice redwood burl recently that I couldn't pass up. I finally got around to cutting some up to get stabilized and have a few questions. I read on WSSI's page to cut oversized to allow for some warping that may occur. How oversized? I have some of it cut into blocks that are around 6"x3.5"x4".
