I breastfeed in public but would like to also bring out refrigerated or frozen expressed breastmilk as an option so that my husband can feed our LO as necessary when we're out. 1) How do I carry this out with me? Can i just take out of the fridge and carry around in my bag or need to put it in a portable which cools the bottle? Are frozen and refrigerated milk treated differently? On ...

Can an allergy to my breastmilk start when my daughter is 6 months old? I had not changed my diet and she had only had a few red spots on her body when we took her to the doctor. One or two resembled descriptions for ringworm, and the others tended to be where her clothes would get wet from spilling milk when she held the bottle (her neck and sometimes legs). When we changed her soap from ...

I had a csection 6 days ago and have developed a terrible ear infection from laying down. I have heard that breastmilk can help clear it up but I wanted advice. Do I just drip a little in my ear and let it sit for a minute or what? I am wiling to try anything at this point.

Just needing to vent a little. My breastmilk never came in, well, not fully anyway. It's just so frustrating! My poor little guy lost 11% of his weight in the hospital because I couldn't make enough. So we decided to start supplementing and we got a pump to help me. The most I ever got was 1/2 ounce when you added the two cups together. It has now been a week, and it has not gotten any ...

Ok here is my dilema. I have a 5 week old baby, and a 3 year old. Due to circumstances out of my control, I can not nurse, so my baby is formula fed, but I am trying to pump and also give her some breastmilk, because i know it is whats best for her. I try to pump 4 times a day, I cant really do more than that, but I am hardly getting anything. For a while I was getting 2-3 ounces per pumping ...

My DH and I are flying tomorrow and I'll be pumping while we're gone (coming back next day). For those of you who have flown with breastmilk, do you have to store it in 3oz quantities like all other liquids? And is a cooler with it in it okay? We're not checking any bags so I'll have it in my carry-on. Thanks!

Hi. I'll be flying for the first time with DS and I'd like to bring a stash of frozen BM in excess of what he would need for the actual trip. Anyone have experience doing this and have advice? I saw on the TSA website that breastmilk is allowed as a carry on but it didn't say anything about excess amounts or about ice packs -- are they permitted? I'd also be willing to check it if ...

I'm just wondering something. I have a BUNCH of frozen breastmilk in my deep freezer but its all over a year old. I know you're supposed to throw it away by then, but why? Is it just not as nutritionally complete or is it actually bad for the baby? I hate to throw it all out when I'm due with another one soon and while I know formula isn't the end of the world, I'd much rather give her ...

Ok so I know this is probably an odd question, but my mind works in bizarre ways. I know it helps babies get over colds and things faster when they breastfeed because there are antibodies to the virus in breastmilk, so in theory wouldn't drinking your own breastmilk do the same thing? I am considering trying it because my sinuses are super swollen from the cold I'm coming down with...

I have written on here a few times about my situation where the paediatrician said I had to immediately supplement with formula because at the time my 5 week old baby was below her birthweight and it was vital she gain weight straight away. Well, my supply was low anyway, that's why it happened (due to sickness, stress etc.) but of course it has dropped more, despite expressing, because she's ...

My DD is 15 months. At her doc appt today, I asked if there are any secrets to getting her to drink more milk out of her sippy cup. My DD takes a whole day to drink 1 sippy cup of milk. Doc said nope. I mentioned that she still nurses 4-5x/day but that I wanted to start weaning her since I found out I am pregnant. (Hence the question about getting her to drink more out of her sippy cup.) The doc...

Hi there! My little guy (4 1/2 mos) has been a difficult nurser from the beginning, but I've always felt he dislikes the taste of my milk... is this possible? I haven't eaten dairy in months and am thinking of cutting out wheat, too. I don't have a wild diet or anything.. pretty normal. Any ideas? thanks!!!
