('96 grand voyager) I recently changed my rear drum brakes and the wheel cylinders because I had no braking ability whatsoever, I came within inches of running the van through my house. I still have no brakes. Pedal goes all the way to the floor. Then I found a leak between the master cylinder and the brake booster. Do they both need to be replaced? Or do I just need to bleed the all ...

Is it good to use or no? This is the stuff I have in my bike right now. I was told that I should just use regular Dot 4. It has a Min. boiling point of 550 F Doesn't absorb water, and doesn't harm paint. This ad is not displayed to registered members. Register your free account today and become a member on StuntLife !

Stock 09 GSXR 750.... Noticed the fluid was low. Manual says DOT4. Found The castrol GTLMA Synthetic "exceeds dot 3 and 4 specifications" brake fluid (Shown below). Can I just top off the little reservoir with this stuff?

Hi guys Im about to bleed the brakes on my 1966 XR but not sure of fluid type though. The original Ford service book talks about (Ford part #) R1-38 fluid. The rears are XF rotors and calipers with XA gear up front. Is DOT 3 suitable here ? Thanks Steve

I was planning o flushing and filling my brake system this winter and was curious about the new fluid. Will I be able to fill with DOT4 fluid or am I limited to the DOT3? If anyone knows please reply and thanks in advance for all your help. DC rocks and has saved me thousands!

I changed my brake fluid and am getting a low brake fluid warning even though the master cylinder is full. I wonder if I may have damaged the float in the process and is this something that requires a new master cylinder? Thanks for any input and/or suggestions.

The brake fluid reservoir to the abs system is so small! Am planning to flush my brakes, I would have to fill it continuously.I know they sell something to keep it filled but why such a small reservoir? Am I missing something ?I have 16000 miles and always ride two up . Did my own 12000 because not making as much money ,now Iam going to tackle a brake flush.

Figured it was the master cylinder so I replaced that and it's doing the same thing. It's the smaller pool of the resevoir that drains after around an hour of driving. The funny thing is, there is no fluid under the vehicle or sprayed anywhere under the vehicle. It's like it just disappears. Nothing is wet from brake fluid! Any ideas?? All new lines and brake hoses on the vehicle. ...

Hello guys, I have noticed that my break fluid seem to be between the min and max level, eventhough, I fillled it up to the max line. I inpected all the break lines and I could not find any leakage. I even changed the new break resevor cap and it still dropped between the two lines. Last night, I saw the drip on the garage floor and I jack the car up and traced back the leakage, but I could ...

I bought 4 litres of this with the intention of using it with my BBK. Although this is the ultimate brake fluid for track use I didn't realize that it needs changing every 12 months. Since I am not going to track the car I think that the benefits of this fluid will not be properly realized with my intended usage of the car and I don't want to do the frequent fluid changes. For anyone that ...

Figured I'd pass along some info concerning my recently filling the brake system. I used a hand oiler ($5 at harbor freight- the high pressure one) and filled from the low point (brake bleed screw) through dual brakes to the reservoir on the firewall (6A). The fill appeared to work beautifully, no bubbles visible anywhere - clear tubing per plans from the downstream side of the pilot master ...

The manual lists oil, coolant, transmission fluid, but no mention of brake fluid. As brake fluid gradually absorbs moisture and boiling point becomes lower, it is something that is usually recommended for replacement after some time. I haven't replaced it at all and I don't get my brakes hot enough to test it. Does Ford assume it's ok to keep it for life of car?

It's time for me to DYI, and I'd rather not go to a BMW dealer for this. Picked it up not too long ago from elderly original owner. I don't think the brake fluid has ever been done. Any preferred Brand? Dot4 or dot5, etc...? 2000 Z3 2.5 automatic convertible, arctic white w/tan, 27k, Portland, OR cheers, Mark

Hypothetically speaking, what would be the effect of putting a small amount of power steering fluid in the brake reservoir? For the sake of argument, let's take it one step further and say that you were to then purge the brake system and then your brakes get "grabby". What do you think the most likely components for replacement? Would the front calipers be enough?
It wasn't me that did it before we start but it was me who told her that the brake fluid was on min and needed some more in at some point... so in true Topgear style - "how hard can it be?" - she topped up the expansion tank with about half a litre of your finest DOT4 about a week ago it's a 2002 Zafira 1.8 and obviously it's a case of dropping the "coolant" doing a flush and antifreeze...
