( I know that DE only works on intestinal parasites and not on parasites in other parts of the body. If intestinal parasites are eating our supplements/food and robbing our bodies of nutrients wouldn't killing them cure brain fog? Our brains require certain nutrients to function properly. In other words, the only way parasites rob our body of nutrients is through intestinal parasites, not...

Hey. I'm going to be completely honest and true with this. In June 2009, I smoked some casual marijuana with my friends (I know it wasn't laced, because my friends are completely fine.). I have done it 5 or 6 times before that, but their was a 3month gap between the time before the last. I do NOT smoke any more ever since this occurrence. Ever since the last time I smoked (June 2009), I ...

When I was first Dx'd I read everything there was on FM. That was over 10 years ago. I had no idea Brain Fog was one of the symptoms. I just figured it was normal aging, although I am only 40. I really need to update myself. Then I read some of your posts and I can relate to all. I live in Southwest Florida and even I notice I hurt more when storms come in. I can't imagine living in a ...

Okay, many are familar with "brain fog"... I need to know a bit more of what comprises it besides the complete ditzy confusion... Some personal examples, is this more than just "brain fog?" for anyone does it include a 1 second memory? like did I just take a pill? or not? Constantly. or brush my teeth? did i just do that? Start to eat a cookie, put the cookie down in an odd place, find the...

So for the last few weeks I've noticed that if I sleep for more than 5-6 hours, I wake up extremely tired and foggy-headed. I don't mean a little foggy either, more like my head is stuffed with cotton! It's awful because I'm never getting enough sleep, but if I sleep in at all the next day is unpleasant. I also lose all focus, motivation, and feel like I weigh 500 pounds. When this happens (...
Can anyone explain the term "brain fog"... what that actually means or feels like? I've searched and the term brain fog comes up often... but not an explanation. Thanks!

I have low thyroid and have suffered such fatigue and brain fog that I don't even socialize.. 30 years of living on my couch and I can't take it anymore. I still have every single symptom of low thyroid but all the doctors will only go by the lab results, not my symptoms. I have even considered suicide, this is not a life, it is merely existing through each day. Can anyone out there tell me if...

This has been the one thing that is really bothering me since I quit drinking 5 weeks ago and I know that I was much smarter when I drank in a sense. Now I'm learning basic stuff over again and that is so weird. I have to focus so hard on what I'm doing and multi-tasking is out of the picture. Just certain things are unclear and spelling basic words is sometimes a challenge that puzzles me. All ...

Replying to: Brain Fog? I too have been on both sides of the equation, if you will, and based on my own experiences it sounds like anxiety. Try doing some yoga to help relax you or when you start feeling the brain fog, do some breathing exercises; it may help. I know for me, i definately have the 'what if's' playing in my head, and when i first started having panic/anxiety attacks I...

Ahh!! I also have problems with not knowing if something is a dream or not. This isn't helped by the fact that I can wake up, hold a conversation, and then go back to sleep immediately. This means that my memory seems a lot like a dream to me. And now I can never remember what I've done in the last 3-5 minutes. I can remember some things vividly... but other stuff... no freakin' way.

( Intestinal parasites would be more of a concern with nutrient depletion than blood parasites. But brain fog can occur for various reasons the most common cause being hypothyroidism. So taking something for parasites is not a guarantee for correcting brain fog. I recommend checking your basal temperature to rule out hypothyroidism as a cause first since lab tests frequently ...

( Just started using DE about 3 days ago and have MAJOR brain fog tonight. Anybody have this experience or know what's causing it? Possibly the pulling of metals from the body since silica will bind many toxic metals. That is the only thing I can think of. I have not heard of anyone having this problem before. , Reply FCK TinyMCE )

I was treated for Lyme in Sept./Oct. 2009 with Doxy.(I never tested positive for Lyme but had the symptoms and live in a high tick area). For awhile I felt better (maybe a week) but now the symptoms are back (not as bad as before). I can't seem to get rid of the brain fog, dizziness, fatigue, eye floaters. Has anyone been treated and the symptoms came back? It also seems like I catch every cold...

I just thought of another possibility. It could be because adderall elevates your blood sugar, so when I sleep long enough for it to go back down, it drops below normal levels. I've always had sensitive blood sugar, and need to eat fairly often to keep from feeling shaky and irritable. This is probably why I feel lightheaded before I take my adderall. Smoking has the same effect, and if I smoke ...

I posted this question two years ago and received lots of great ideas. Now that we have so many new members, I thought it was time to discuss this again. What are your best practical tips for surviving the holidays with RA?
