QUESTION: Hi Jim, we're in central Illinois and have a bowing issue that is showing up in our 5 year old 17x20 addition. Â About 4-5 blocks down from the top, a small crack in the mortar has gradually expanded and it bowed out a max of about .5 to .75". Â We have a lot of clay in the soil, so it seems the expansion of the dirt plus freeze thaw may be to blame. We've dug out along the 20' problem...

Bowing is a sign of respect in Japan, not a gesture of submission. It doesn't bother me that Obama shows respect toward other heads of state. What always bothered me were the presidents who didn't. It's about time we put our arrogance behind us and joined the world. Not that I think Obama is at all worthy of having the title 'president..'
