anyone real familiar with manipulating the master boot record? I have a final project for school that required me to install a fresh version of XP and a fresh version of Win7 for comparison. I set up partitions, as started with Win7, which went fine, and the MBR showed both OS's at bootup. I then installed xp on the last partition, and expected the MBP to show three options, but it didn't, ...

I have two drives raided stripe. The system keeps rebooting even when selecting start in safe mode. Will repairing the boot record work the same way as if the O.S.(Win XP) was installed to just a single drive? Will a repair install work with a raid setup? If so, what will the repair option do? Will I lose any data? Thanks so much in advance

This should be a simple fix. The MBR is seeing the old Vista still and also the new Windows 7. Just select Windows 7. Once logged in to Windows 7, do this: Start -> Type "msconfig" (without the quotes) -> Hit Enter This will open the System Configuration. Go to the Boot tab. Delete the Vista entry, but be sure to leave the Windows 7 one. ...
