Happy Holidays everyone. I just wanted to tell you that I will never buy boardgames for Christmas for my Hubby anymore! I bought him two 'BBG wish list :musthaves"': LeHavre and Colonia and I thought we will be playing them by now. But how wrong was I... Instead of playing he is taking care of the games from the very morning: counting cubes, laminating money cards, God knows what else and he ...

So I'm coming across more and more BGG-types with German backgrounds, intriguing-looking German boardgame postings I can't understand, and German boardgame rules. I started learning German some years back when my music group was invited as the performing guests at a castle near Frankfurt, but then dropped it because of lack of motivation. Recently I've gotten the urge to give it another shot, ...

Last night, the local news rebroadcast the story of Mark Bordsen, a retiree who opened a shop an hours drive south of me where he charges $2/hour per person to play his games. This sounds like a retirement plan I can get behind: http://www.kxly.com/news/21946841/detail.html The gentleman is actually a BGG member: Mark Bordsen ( Bored Son The )...

I have alot of boardgames in a shelf in my bedroom and I think it's stolen some of my mojo. Should I hide them in the closet or accept my true geekiness in all it's celibacy?

Hello RPG.net, I am moving to the Austin are on the 30th of Dec. I am looking for a good collection of game stores that provide a nice variety of games. I am into D&D, but I also dig indie games, boardgames, and miniature gaming. I am also looking for a good local forum where I can discuss gaming and recruit players. Anyone have any suggestions those two things? Thanks, ...

I got Lifeboat for Christmas, which turned out to be a fantastic little game, despite a kind of vague rulebook and the difficulty of trying to find 4-6 players on a whim to play the thing. I'm not at all convinced that the characters are balanced, but it's not too huge of an issue considering they're randomly assigned and your goals for the game are a little randomized each time as well. ...

Malachi wrote: Not that I wouldn't jump at the chance to play games with my wife (she's a non-gamer), I do understand the compulsion to count all of the bits. I have gotten many games over the years with missing or damaged pieces. While the game companies are usually fairly friendly and responsive to requests when dealing with those problems with new games, it's best to take inventory before ...
