I have never used my block heater and went to plug it in 2 days ago and I checked the dash for an indicator light and there was nothing there. I was just wondering if there was supposed to be some kind of way that you know that the thing is working. When I got in the truck the next morning after having the heater plugged in for about 8 hours the engine temp on the dash was still in the cold ...

Okay, the block heater in my 83 300 SD worked perfectly until last night when apparently it stopped working and the car was a bitch to start this am. The block heater was plugged in all night. Just tried plugging it in and the telltale noise is not there. Checked the power cord coming from the wall - OK. Fuses in the fusebox look OK. Assuming glow plugs and relay are OK - car fires off perfectly ...

its time to dig out the block heater or heck even put one in. I have that 92 Liteace RHD with a 1997cc toyota 2C diesel in it. from pics i have seen on the forum of different motors, it appears they are behind the starter? seems like a stupid question but i dont know for sure where mine even is yet. what would be best anyhow? block, circulating, or magnetic heater on the oil pan?

Its -18C outside right now... think i will need to start plugging her in. I had a look, and can't seem to find the cord. Its a Canadian model with heated seats, so I would assume it has the cold weather package. This is for a 2003 E320 Sport btw. any ideas.

I have an 04 ford f250 that came with a (bought it used) sheared off block heater cord where the actual plug is missing but the three wires are there. I cleaned up the wirey mess with a clean cut on all three of the wires. After cutting about 5 in. off the of the end of an extra 3 prong extension cord i had on hand including the plug, I spliced the three wires together coming from the block ...

Spec for block heater? When using a multimeter to determine if my block heater is working, what resistence should I be getting? Or can I just crawl under the truck and feel the block for warmth? __________________ 2001 F-350, 7.3L, Crew Cab, 4x4, Dually. It likes to pull a 28' 2005 KZ ...

Hey guys, looking for some info from some fellow 2007+ lade drivers... Is your engine coolant and block heater plugin hanging under/behind the front lip? I thought I didn't have one, turns out it's RIGHT behind the front lip. Kinda super pissed off about this considering I have to lay on the ground to ...

Thank you all for the replies. Back in Febuary i was in St Louis, Mo when the temp was down at 25 degrees. Even with the block heater plugged in it was stubborn starting. I need to check all the glow plugs and a few other things i have been reading about. Just need the time to do it.. Thanks again for the information. Shawn

For years, my job had power outlets set up for each worker. However, if you had more than one cord going to your vehicle you would get in trouble so: These pics are from my 1986 Subaru. I used regular 12 G house wire, put a male plug on it and than siliconed the heck out of it. The wire than ran to a regular household electrical outlet under the hood far enough back to keep it ...
