Do all Blu Player bitstream audio? Is that the best way? Hi folks. I'm trying to find out if all Blu Ray players can bitstream audio to a receiver or if there is something to look for when buying. Also, is it better to bitstream to the receiver or to encode at the player and pass along? Not totally sure.

Just wondering which one is best? I'm about to setup my new reciever "Harman Kardon AVR 3600" which supports the newest DTS-HD/Dolby HD, and just trying to decide. Should I setup my blu-ray to PCM or bitstream. I realize that if set to bitstream I may not here little things like menu pop-ups, etc. But will the sound not be as good? Say you have a standalone blu ray player, and are using a HDMI connection and have your audio output set to bitstream, and you have a blu ray disc who's only lossless audio track is a PCM track. So just a few questions.I'm using the ps3 slim (can bitstream dts HD) so is it best to bitstream the HD codecs or send them as PCM as my reciever is capable of decoding and displaying the codec lights. If theres a PCM track and also one of the HD codec tracks on the disc which is best? Do you always select PCM for a PCM track ,you never bitstream them?

shock ive just read this on using bitstream on the HD tracks There is a drawback to this method. If you use bitstream you will not hear the disc menu sounds or the secondary track for Bonus View Picture-in-Picture features. The menu sounds are no big deal, but you may like Bonus View. Fortunately you are likely to watch the disc without Bonus View the first time and use the Bonus View ...

Hi Guys - I am looking for a DVD player that will bitstream SACD, DVD-A, and HDCD layers to my denon 4308? Mfg HHF

I generally prefer the receiver to do the decoding, and I think the industry is probably gonna move in that direction exclusively. It doesn't make a lot of sense to include the extra expense of decoders in the players when a receiver can do it. The one advantage that allowing the player to decode in my situation is the fact that my receiver (Marantz 5003) can't apply Audyssey ...

I have also read that you would actually have to have a movie playing in order to change it to the bitstream output, I think they call it non decoded HD audio or something similar. I will confirm that whenever I get my 5xxx card next year.
