Brookyn Birthing Center The Brooklyn Birthing Center stopped having births there for a little over two weeks and delivered patients at Maimonidies (I would be so livid if that happened to me! It was bad enough going into labor prematurely and having to deliver there.) Does anyone know what made them ...

Hey, what do you know about/ think of the bradley method? I want to take some birthing classes because it has been awhile since I did this(4+years), and plus since we are gonna be at home I want to take some classes that will help my hubby be prepared and more involved in the birth. I was thinking the bradley method because a hospital class is obviously not going to fit our needs. I found a ...

I just watched the documentary on the issue of natural at home births. I am a military wife and I was wanting to know if any other military wives even had the option of home birth or a birthing center. This documentary really moved me and if anyone has any opinions on the different methods of birthing I would love to hear them. I am trying to make a birthing plan and I want to do what is best ...

I know many things can change at the last minute when giving birth for various reasons. Did anything change for you in regards to your original birthing plan? When things had to change, how did you feel about it afterwards? When looking back, were you determined to stick with your originals birthing plan but at the last minute only to discover that you needed intervention of some kind?

IMO Birthing Rights (right to deliver at home, etc) are part of the reproductive rights issue. If you cede authority over your body for any part of reproduction whether it be birth control, gestation or birth itself, then you in effect have opened the door to allow the government to intrude in all areas to do with reproduction. Do you see this issue the same? I am always ...

anyone else using a birthing center? i just visited the birthing center close to my home and I LOVED it! I love the idea of not having to be attached to anything while giving birth (like IVs and heart monitors). I like that the midwifes stay w/ you the whole time (unlike the nurses in the hospital) and that you can eat during labor. And 2 massages are included in care. if you are doing ...

Had to leave the birthing class. The women hosting the class sounded like Shelly from southpark. Plus when she made us listen to a relaxation and breathing clip, I lost it. I couldn't control my laughter. The woman in the clip was saying things like "my right arm is heavy" in a hilariously soothing voice. It made me think of when you are learning a foreign language and you have to repeat...

have any of you seen this movie?? It is FANTASTIC! I watched it this morning and am so convinced that I want to do either a home birth or at the very most, have my baby at a birthing center with a midwife. Very interesting and informative. I hope to convince DH to watch it with me when we are TTC .. opinions?

After 39 weeks and 33 hours of back labor Joanna May was born on 12-18 at 9:30am!! We went to a birthing center and she came home at 4p the same day. 7 pounds 14 ounces, 20 1/2 inches long. Her daddy is 6'8'', and was a 10 lb baby, so we were expecting her to be a little bigger than she is. All of her clothes are huge on her lol. But we are all settled in and she's doing so good. ...
and have a Joyous Solstice celebration! BD#2 (she of the birthing tub in the living room) and her family are celebrating the holidays today, as pagans. They will be doing the yule log, the yule wreath (kept until the summer solstice and then burned); feasting, bell ringing, and such tonight, with gifts. Wish I could be there, but am saving $300 by going in January!

OK, so I know that most people like to tell their birthing stories only when they are interesting, but I am having the irrational thoughts about my waters breaking from what I have listened to... what if I am in public? What if I don't notice it to begin with until I am in a big puddle? One friend said that her discharged changed a few days before so it was more liquidy, so she knew ...
