Hello ladies, I'm working on baby number four here- 15 weeks along. I'm seeing a midwife but am not interested in a hospital delivery. Any ladies have experience with the birthing centers in the area? I'd love to hear your feedback. Thanks! Becky

So At my routine appoitnment today my midwife told me the for the upcoming season of 16 and pregnant there is a girl being taped here in my town delivering at a local hospital.. I guess MTV wants to change it up a bit and are filming her and her partner in a Hypnobirthing class at my birthcenter, my midwife then asked if me and my DF would go and be a part of the class as well, so she doesn't ...

This weekend was a wild one for me as I started having contractions two minutes apart on Saturday. I ended up going in and sure enough, the contractions were real. However, I am only dilated to 1 cm. I was then given a shot of brethine to stop the labor. For me, shortly after the shot, contractions started again just not as consistent. Sunday I ended up having to go in again as ...

I've only given birth in a hospital... so we packed a huge bag, took pillows, food, water, everything... the less we accepted from the hospital, the less we would wind up paying in the end. I even brough my own tylenol and prenatal pills so they couldn't try to push theirs on me. Ugh. But I have NO idea what to pack for a birth center, if anything. I'd be there for a max. 12 hours. Alright birth ...

Just found out I'm pregnant with #4 and I have decided that this will be my first out of hospital birth. I'm not sure about a homebirth and I think I feel more comfortable with a birth in a birth center... But I don't know where to start with midwives, so I was hoping I could get suggestions about any in my area. I'm in Fauquier county but Prince William or I guess Culpepper county is ok...

What do you guys think about a birth center instead of a hospital birth? Anyone have any experiences good or bad with a birth center? I need to decide soon but I am not sure what the pros and cons are.

My friend is newly pregnant and is looking for fsbc references in San Francisco. She's interested in Sage Femme so any info on them would be awesome, and others are welcome.

birth center in South King County (WA)? Hello! I am forced to look for a new OB when I (hopefully!) get pregnant again. A doula told me she thought there was a birth center in South King County, but I'm just not finding one. Any ideas on where this might be or what it's called? Puget Sound Birth Center is just too far for me. ...

Hey all, I am pregn. with my third. We are due June 4th. I am considering switching from my OB...to a midwife and having a birthing center or home birth. I had a midwife with my first, and delivered in the hospital, she was not much different then my ob...but made some poor decisions at the hospital making me fear midwives..Due to a long labor, having an epidural then haveing a child positioned ...

Jen, I'm like you, as soon as Payton was out I was up, walking and ready to get the babe home I don't like hospitals either, I'm almost terrified of them. THOUGH, I didn't have a c-section AND I had tons of family on hand to help, and he was my first but, we came home and had a houseful of guests and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

I used Alma for the birth of my daughter, and it was great. I would just recommend visiting the different birth centers and see which one feels right. We went to Alma b/c it felt right for us and it was a 10 min. walk from our house. Having a birthing center close was really nice b/c you go often for prenatal visits and when you are in labor, you are not going to want to drive across town to ...

At least here, some midwives will see higher risk patients but assume the role of a doula at the birth in the hospital (and they will help you w/ labor at home before hand). The mom has to go to a few ob appts too, but your real support would be from the midwife. there's a fee but not as high as a midwife deliver fee. just an option...

Re: Aspen Women's Center? No natural birth? i want to try to set some things straight. this is posted in a private clinic, not in a hospital. they aren't saying women aren't allowed to use these methods, they are just informing patients they aren't going to participate with them which they have every right to notify patients. i'm not sure ...
