Scott Dittman won the River Bend Benchrest Shooter of the Year award for the third year in a row. This year he didn't have any close challengers. The award is determined by many points a shooter accumulates during the year with 4 points for a win, 3 for second place and 2 for third. Saturday we had our last match of the year, shooting score this month. Scott won of course with MIles Gibby...

I had a call today from Ken Martens from South Australia. He shoots a 30-30 in benchrest and is seeking information from others doing the same thing. Didn't somebody successfully campaign a 30-30 this year? I have an email address for him and will pass along any contacts or information. Ken has an email address but has not yet found this forum. I am sending him an email with a link so...

Hey gang, I'm trying to find a place to shoot benchrest in Southern California. In live in San Bernardino County. I am new to benchrest, but used to shoot at the San Gabriel Valley Gun Club (SGVGC) in fish canyon (Duarte, CA) in the mid 1990s. Sadly, that range has been closed for three years now. I just recently found out that a benchrest club used to meet at the SGVGC -- the San Gabriel ...

Was wondering how many of you have used the JTR Benchrest Stocks made by Robertson Composites and what you thought of it. I am having an anschutz 54 put in one and have another on the way for a second rifle. The stock seems very stiff, very well made and I really like the way it rides and slides in my pappas rest. Not looking to promote or badmouth anyones product. Just looking for some ...
I have an opportunity to purchase a used Suhl in a McMillan benchrest stock with factory barrel and factory trigger and a Harrel tuner. I currently shoot in local ARA matches the following; * stock Anschutz 64 MPR * Sako Finnfire (originally Range model) with Lilja barrel, bedded Stith stock and Harrel tuner with factory trigger. My question is will I be gaining much with the ...

Does anyone know of a custom stock maker that will make a benchrest for a large bottle PCP? I have a Daystate Air Wolf MCT. I have been reading Mitch's report on his FX Royale 400 stock progress. Mitch makes his own and does not know of anyone comercially providing such a stock. Any ideas? Thanks, Chuck

Factory Benchrest Rifle What would be your choice of factory rifles to use at local benchrest competitions. Its nothing serious just a fun shoot. I dont want to go with anything custom. They are shooting 100 & 200 yards. I was thinking a .243 Winchester would be my round of choice but wasnt sure which rifle.

"When Bill Myers builds a rimfire Benchrest rifle he is looking for one-hole accuracy: "If a rifle can shoot three or four 5-shot groups in a row in the .130" to .140" range, it will be competitive. The best rifles are shooting in the ones. Joe's guns shoot .120s pretty reliably." Bill added that the latest batch of Eley Tenex EPS has shown outstanding promise: "I tried the new Eley from the #5 ...

Jeff: I commend the IBS Executive Board in taking this action. While I don't see myself competing with one of these guns, there's a large market that enjoys these rifles. Introducing these shooters to Benchrest may indeed prove beneficial to the sports growth in coming years. One thing is for sure....if it's not tried, how will we know? Hopefully, there's a good plan in ...

Mike in Colorado You are a benchrest shooter with a small 'b'. Benchrest Shooters in the USA are either NBRSA or IBS you claim neither affiliation. Group shooting on the club level especially with no moving backers are fun shoots and that's it to many in this crowd. Why not step up to the NBRSA/IBS level next year and prove some of your claims on a National level, might suprise yourself. ...

Maybe we need a Benchrest museum. People like Red, and all the others that were experimenters built some strange and wonderful contraptions back in those days. I understand the need for funds for Mrs. Cornelison, but that rifle and others need to be put in a museum somewhere. Now, how do we go about that? Donald
