We are considering adopting a 2 year old Belgian Malinois. I've been doing research on the breed, but was hoping someone might have some real-life experience/advice they'd like to share. TIA!

Not having had a working dog before, I would like to get some HONEST testimonials/opinions from all of you about owning one? Especially with first time owners? I am a passinate dog lover and will only get one if I have done my proper research. (I spent over 3 years researching about my little whippets) Thanks in ...

This is not directed to ANYBODY on this forum. But I've just been hearing at dog parks, at the lake, at the river, almost everywhere I go with the dogs that Labs are perfect. That anybody can own one. No, no, no. They could not be further from wrong. Labradors are NOT a perfect breed. And they are NOT right for everyone. I am not saying they are not a good breed to own, but they are...

This was in my local news this morning. Extremely heartbreaking. A part of the article states he was a dog handler for 14 years. Don't you think he would know better than to leave a dog in a car in the Florida sun in August?? Coral Springs police dog dies after being left in hot car August 28, 2008 Hieke (City of Coral Springs, Florida) CORAL SPRINGS - A Coral Springs...

I posted this story a while ago- here is the outcome. Thoughts? SAN DIEGO -- A 22-year veteran San Diego police officer whose police dog died when he left it in a hot car with the windows rolled up tearfully apologized Friday, one day after he was placed on three years probation for causing the animal's death. "I accept full responsibility for what I let happen to my friend, ...

We got our new puppy.. His name is Bristol. He is a Belgian Malinois and my husbands future narcotics/handler protection dog. Professional training will hopefully begin in a few months, but til then, what kind of training (besides potty) can I do? My husband is worried that any training will mess up future training... so I don't know. Even if it doesn't work out the way he wants.. at ...

I suspected this girl might be a Dutch Shepherd, and finally contacted the North American Dutch Shepherd Rescue. The president agrees she is most likely a purebred Dutchie. How she ended up at our county pound as an unclaimed stray I'll never know. This is not a common breed around here. (Her Petfinder listing says Belgian Malinois right now, I will be changing that today.) I'm ...
