A couple days ago I read that Sabean and the front office had Sandoval penciled in to bad cleanup, after which I saw Bochy float the idea of Velez/Torres, Renteria and Sanchez hitting 1-3. Now this morning I read in the Chronicle that the Giants are narrowing in on a deal for a first baseman to bat 5th -- either Johnson, DeRosa, or LaRoche. So I'm starting to wonder: are they really making ...

Who can, for the twins, bat second?JJ Hardy- Hardy if taught right could ultimately bat second with the right teaching, he could use his pop to hit for alleys and average. But JJ has been better as a 6 or 7 hitter, also if he bats second are the twins willing to give up 20 homers. Matt Tolbert- If you look at his stats in his major league career, in 311 AB's, he's batted .251. Thats below a good...

CF. Span- Great leadoff hitter, finally gets to be full time CF and he does not have to look of his shoulder for Gomes 2B DeRosa- This would be a great pick-up for the Twins, Use the money from Cabera and go sign a great Vet, who would be great for the Clubhouse. C. Maur- Nothing to say other than MVP 1B. The Canadian- Great Power and one of the best 1B in the league. Look for the same kind ...

Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam blamed his teams defeat on poor bowling and fielding. We had a bad day, said Alam. We probably gave away 30-40 extra runs and that made the difference. We must improve our fielding because New Zealand is one of the best fielding sides in the world, on a par with South Africa. Alam defended his decision to promote Shahid Afridi (no runs) and ...

Werth has really been hitting, and so has Chase Utley. I think Manuel really needs to consider putting Werth in the cleanup spot against the lefty Pettitte for game 6. This will give Utley more pitches to hit and will also give Werth more opportunity to get hits with less outs and more runners on. Move Howard to 5th while he tries to find his swing, if only for a game or two. We have a DH ...

I will say that I honestly am not concerned what the average player put up when deciding batting order. I think you have to build a lineup looking at what you have. Weeks career OBP is about .350. Add to that he hits for a lot more power, he doesn't have to steal a base to get to 2nd, and he is clearly a better hitter than Escobar. While it might not be preferable to have Weeks bat leadoff, ...

I don't see Sabes as obsessed with the batting order. I think he sees it generally the way you do -- and I agree by the way. I kneel before the deity of OBP as well; I think that is the most glaring deficiency that we must address this offseason, which is why I want Nick Johnson the most and feel we have to pass on Barajas, Kouzmanoff, Uribe, and Laird. Well you and I agree. ...
