If this works here are some pictures of our gym, Monster Barbell. It's a work in progress and if these pics come over I'll keep putting some up as it progresses. In one you can see where the delivery driver dropped his wheels off of the drive and made a tire rut that took 8 bags of top soil to fill. But that was the only casualty in setting the building up so that's not to bad! I hope this ...

What is your preference - bent over barbell rows or seated cable rows? Most people here prefer barbell exercises, but do you do seated cable rows also? Thanks

Weside Barbell - is anybody using this technique? There is a "DE" day (Dynamic Effort) which instructs you to do 8 - 12 sets of 2 - 3 reps very quickly at 60% of your one rep maximum weight. This seems way too easy - am I misunderstanding the technique?

I don't really have much equipment right now, but I do have a barbell, and my weights kind of have "handles" that make it easy to grip I suppose, any suggestions on how to work my triceps? Thanks.

I feel like my body can do more weight, however I'm stuck at 115. Any particular reason for this? What are some good tips for -strict- OH Barbell Press?

Monster Barbell Gym is here! I'm as excited as a kid at Christmas! The building arrived Friday about 2:00pm. We put in the initial equipment and finished about 10:00pm...then we had a Miller Light to toast it in! I've been arranging and re-arranging things most of the day today and getting things ready for our 1st workout Monday at 7:00pm. ...

These are two 50lb plates that are practically brand new. I used them only a few times so they have no dings or rust or anything. They are not Olympic size, they have the small hole in the middle as opposed to the Olympic size. I'm selling them because I got rid of the weight bench for free, but wanted to sell these. Pick up only please, they will be too expensive to ship for me. Save $10 or ...

So I've hurt my back 2 times within the past year. 1st was when I went too heavy into deadlifts too quickly after taking off months of not doing them. I went up to 395 for 1 rep my 2nd week, then 5 days later when I was doing my warmup set for squat (135 lbs), the 2nd rep in something just "clicked" in my lower back, put the bar back, and couldn't stand up straight without severe pain. I ...

Smith Machine Bench Press? I am curious about the benefits of doing some Smith Machine bench presses as an alternative to a standard barbell bench press. It is difficult to always have a workout partner to assist, and I certainly feel safer with the Smith Machine when I am alone. Can anyone comment on the differences, and how much ...

Lee's striking speed from three feet with his hands down by his side reached five hundredths of a second. Lee could take in one arm a 75 lb barbell from a standing position with the barbell held flush against his chest and slowly stick his arms out locking them, holding the barbell there for 20 seconds. Lee's combat movements were at times too fast to be captured on film for clear slow motion ...

Got my "New York Barbell" cambered squat bar today. Built like a tank. Weighs 55 lbs and is 1-3/8 inches thick. Knurling is not very good, but with the camber it is not that big of an issue as cambered bars stay rock solid on your back--which is the entire idea. After squatting with one a straight bar feels like a bitch keeping in place. I had an old ironmind cambered bar, but it was an early ...

There's one very important thing I have taken from Westside Barbell training. In regards to Max Effort training. Never do the same max effort (90% plus) exercise in back to back weeks. No more than 3 - 5 sets as well to avoid over training. Yet when I see peoples training programs and logs they constantly break this idea. I have first hand experience with this back in the day and doing ...

I actually own a Cap olympic barbell similar to this one: http://www.treadmillfactory.ca/?goto...od&id_prod= 247 I never knew my olympic bar had a 300lb capacity which means my smaller 25lb bar must have an even smaller capacity. Do most bars have 300lb capacities? It seems rather small. I want to be safe lol
