DSII, new Centech harness, what would be a good coil to run and not wire in the ballast resistor. I have a coil marked "no ballast resistor required" but I can't remember what it's off of. Just as soon buy a new one.

Hey guys, just got my car back from the tire shop. It's raining here in NJ today and these are with my crappy cell phone. I literally came home to post these, and I am off to my other shop to get an estimate on painting the grill black (flat black slates) glossy black on the chrome, my carlsson style CF front lip, and my painted amg trunk lip. Also, I know I need...

I recently replaced the electronic control module for the automatic transmission for my 1995 mercury village/Nissan quest. during my investments the Nissan dealer has informed me that there is a downshift ballast resistor also associated with this transmission and that it could also be faulty. i have searched in vain to locate this in the engine compartment as they had explained the location and...

OK, let's see if we chalk up another big goof to me. I had a Mallory distributor with electronic ignition module in storage for years. I installed it. It worked. I went on a drive and it was great. THEN I found the instructions that indicate that I was to have a ballast resistor in the circuit. (It said that running one without the resistor will "eventually lead to failure".) To my ...

I have a 67 Cougar XR7 and I'm putting a Mallory Unilite distributor in it with a MSD Blaster 2 coil. The instructions for the distributor give 2 wiring diagram examples; "wiring diagram using ballast resistor" and "wiring diagram using OEM primary resistance wire", which contains a "loom resistance wire" that goes directly to the ignition switch. My question is...

MSD 8222 calls for a Ballast Resistor (like the car has already?). I'm using a Pertronix. No CDI for now. Just wanted to play with a hotter coil since the car seems pretty happy as is. Electrons are not my thing. (You cannot see them coming and they can kill you) I'm not proud. Thanks, Tom

12V on one side of the resistor and .8V on the other? Could be a bad resistor or could be a grounded ignition wire or even shorted coil. What's the resistance of the resistor?
