I have pretty much decided on the Manfrotto 055xprob legs but there are so many heads to consider, Which one would be suitable for my D90 and 70-300vr.What do you think about the 322RC2 horizontal grip?

Now before you all go....who wants a cheap ball head. I need one for a off camera flash bracket I am making. I don't want to pay R400 for a ball head that will only be holding the speedlite and not the camera. That makes it more than the material and labour at R200 an hour together Just need to be able to carry the flash. Anybody know where I can get one of these or has an old one they don't...

Something I've been playing around with, at least in my mind. I'm envisioning a ball from a trackball, w a carriage bolt through it, mounted to the camera. Then a PVC end cap (of the right diameter that the ball sits in it nicely) screwed down to the top of the monopod. (or just put a PVC fitting on the end of a walking stick!) This will give, I think, a great hiking combo- the monopod can ...

I'm looking into getting the Gorillapod Focus as an addition to my system, but i can't decide on which Giottos ball head i want to go with it. I want to go Giottos because i have their equipment with tripods. I'm looking at either the MH1001 ($85) or MH1002 ($60). I don't mind spending the extra money on the 1001 if it's going to do the job right. But which is the better of the 2, i want ...

*How does the Alzo Ball Head tripod perform compared to the gold standard Manfrotto 3001, 486RC2 combination?* I cannot find feedback on the Alzo anywhere, but it looks quite solid. Regards, Adrian

Does anyone have experience with the Manfrotto table-top tripod (709B)? I don't currently need a full-sized tripod, but the mini is cheap and won't take up much space in a bag, so I've been thinking about buying it. Also, is there any reason I couldn't use a quick-release mechanism with such a small tripod?

My only advice is to buy right the first time. If you have a tripod that will suffice until you can afford it, wait. I spent around 1300 for my setup and haven't regretted a dime, and I do not have a large income by any standard. That number won't look so big though once you've gone a year of heavy usage and realize your tripod never weighted you down (both figuratively and literally)...

thing I found is that you need an insert to make the threads compatible. I like it. I put my camera on the monopod, adjusted the ball head pointing down. I extended to its full length, set the timer on my camera, hoisted the camera into the air and got this: I set the camera to color accent.
