I changed the video settings in my BIOS to try to fix an issue, lo and behold I restart and no picture. I did a quick google search and I tried taking the battery in the motherboard out and left it out for a whole night to reset to factory defaults. Just tried it, it kept the same BIOS settings as I still am not getting a picture. Getting very frustrated. What can I do to reset BIOS to ...

Onboard IDE config in bios was in legacy mode, pata enabled. So I disconnected the pata drives and connected the sata drive and booted... without changing the bios settings On first boot the bios didn't ...

Actually I have learned from Aron that Software RAID 1 is more like a 'virtual' RAID. The term fake-RAID is not mine see: RAID - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia it discusses all three types. The RAID on the motherboard is not a true hardware RAID and is CPU demanding. As for my needs the software RAID 1 is a better option because I am not building a server.

I would really appreciate an answer to this topic as I'm in the same situation. I need to disable the BIOS resource allocation for PCIexpress as my Express Card gets blocked by a resource conflict if it's switched before the BIOS POST is passed.

Found a jumper and installed the new drive... works like a charm. Was it the wrong sata speed, the bios settings that were initially wrong or was the first drive just death at arrival... anyway, I'm not planning to try to reproduce the issue! Thanks for the support. Grtz.
