I am thinking I would like to stay in the Solidere area of Beirut but when I google for Hotels I am not sure if that area is referred to as the "city center" or simply the "city" or if that is neither? I donʻt see listings for Solidere. What are some value priced hotels preferably under $100 US per night double with bath. Mahalo (thanks) traveling with aloha the coconut wireless

We intend to travel from Amman to Beirut around New Year. Any thoughts whether it is easier to go by land or plane? How long does it take and how much does it cost? I know getting a visa for Syria is a pain too so how to avoid it if we do not plan to stop over in Syria?
