This may belong in the electronic or NEMD forum but the question is more heavily based around specs than anything else I suppose, so I'm putting it here. I'm trying to build a new computer and I've got around 1k to work with. My main goal is to build a computer that can stand as a second hand studio to record and edit music. This being the case, I'm looking to go for the ...

another problem i'm having, still using sonar 4 PE: when i try to change the length of a clip, sometimes it works in small increments-- seems to do better if i'm expanding a clip rather than shortening it-- but if i try to process a clip in the middle of a track for length, say doubling the length of the clip, sonar will stretch the clip, then move it to the very beginning of the track, ...

Looking for a way to streamline audio processing work. Just started with a new company and I've taken over the previous guys workflow, which kinda sucks. We record VO in single lines for use in Flash. So one to two sentences for each slate/take. We roll tape for the whole script. Reads usually take about 30 mins. Then each line has to be cut out from the long take and saved as ...

Had a thought the other day regarding audio processing of stations. I'm assuming that when setting parameters for processors (or chains of processors), it's measured on osciloscopes or other metering equipment to achieve a flat response. But, is it ever done by ear? And, if it's done by ear, is it done to achieve a flat response, or is processing adjusted with the idea that MOST...

eh not really you can get an i7 + mobo for under 600 and that still leaves 400+ for the PSU, video card (may as well buy that mofo used,) sound card and any extraneous shit like a dvd burner. while a core 2 duo will easily handle DAWs, an i7 will still be able to render your music faster. it all comes down to whether the time you can save is worth spending an extra $200 on which ...
