If it says anything to you: I own a intel E8200 with 4 gigs of ram and a HD3870. And I can play Dragon Age with everything maxed out except for AA at 1080p with 30+fps. I am surprised myself that it worked as well as it did but apparently my HD3870 was enough.

The big difference is they support DDR3 as Cypher pointed out, but if you have a X2 6000 hold on to your money it's not a have to have upgrade, if you building new then opt for the Athlon II or Phenom II over the x2 6000.
