I have been trying to install this anti-virus program, but I keep getting the following message: "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows installer is not correctly installed." I have tried several thing that the support for Trend says and Microsoft. I know the installer is started and I downloaded an ...

A few weeks ago I let my Trend Micro program lapse. Among the many messages they sent to me pleading with me to renew was one that gave the instructions (complicated) on how to uninstall prior to installing the newer version. I thought I had saved that, but lost it. I wondered why simply using "add/remove" programs would not work. I haven't tried anything yet including "add/remove". How would...

After recieving a few trojan viruses, my computer suggested that I get this anti-virus scan and I did. After restarting my computer, it didn't go to the welcome screen. Instead it went to a blue screen saying... A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error scree, restart your computer. ...

Superantispyware and Malwarebytes anti malware are the best I've used and free. Avast was good when SAS and MBAM wasn't allowed to run but it takes a lot of memory keeping it and the scan takes way too long so I used it once to get rid of the ones that blocked and then uninstalled it. VIPRE got rid of this Police Pro virus that I couldn't get rid of with anything else so it gets rid of the ...

I was using Bullguard / Steel Series 8.7 Gamer's Anti-Virus & Firewall on Vista which was great as I could tell it to automatically switch to gaming mode when a exe was started. Unfortunately it doesn't work under Windows 7 64bit which I have just installed. Can anyone recommend a Anti Virus & Firewall that will do the same thing and use low resources? A lot of these have gaming modes, but ...

MickeyFan : I'm not sure what to say. Trend Micro has a good rep as an online backup scanner, but I've never trialed it as an AV. I note it has no user-to-user support forum, and it does not participate in independent testing by AV-Comparatives nor VB100, the two websites I most trust when it comes to AV testing. To be honest, I think there are better AVs, both paid and free, to be had out...

I should have mentioned that I got the uninstall tool from the list of options Ravencajun provided in the first response to my original post. I started following the instruction of the uninstall tool which led me to "unzipping" my Trend Micro files. I did. There followed some other instructions which left me puzzled. It was then that I went through the simple "add/remove" option Windows ...

"I had also contacted their program support and they said I had to talk with you" These are Public Forums, not Microsoft. We are fellow Vista users helping each other here for free. I suggest that you contact Trend Micro about problems with their Software Program.. Cheers.

Oh, sorry. Wasn't trying to ignore you... There must have been another new post at the bottom of the thread and did not notice yours in the middle. The way this program works, there is a portion of the application that does the actual work (back-end) but I think you have to use the Unix command line (Terminal) to run it directly. The developer calls this the "tried, tested ...

Hello, I had the same problem, it infected everything, could not open task manager, my own antivirus program kept opening a ton of windows, IE kept directing me to buy program. Was able to power down and restart in safe mode with networking on. I did the rkill.com, and ran Malwarebytes. Now my Internet Explorer will not work.
