A spin on an old story Here's a spin on an old story that my local paper has been printing for the last 28 years. I thought I'd share it this year. Hannah Berrys inn already was crowded when the storm hit. The crude log house on the sand bluff where Whiting and Indiana Harbor now come together at the lake was a favorite of stage drivers on the Detroit-Chicago run, ...

Inspired by h8bees, I was curious to see who here remembers the viral campaign Microsoft launched all those years ago? My friend and I were both suckered into the hype, traveling all the way to Cape Cod to make some axons go "hot." Anybody here fall as desperately into the Halo 2 hype vortex as me? Many topics on this site remind me of an old story. The story goes: Theirs a boy on the beach throwing starfish into the ocean. A man comes down to the beach and asks the boy, 'What are you doing?' The boy replies, 'The tide washed all these starfish to shore, so I'm throwing them back before they die.' The man looks down the...

Help me find an old story What happens to all the old stories? I read one a very long time ago, and would like to re-read it. It was well over a year ago. About a boarding school girl who had to be a sub/slave in order to pay her tuition. Her guardian allowed it, and she was a virgn, and it was four or five stories long... was in the ...

Chapter 1 Screamers. Every one of them… It was a shame. The bandits had talked so big but they were no warriors. They were just beggars with more enthusiasm. And Hellpipes. He couldn’t see what was so worthwhile about them. All they did was use a chemical reaction to propel a metal ball at high speed. Normally, a Hellpipe was all one needed to slay a foe. Unfortunately for them,...

I've got the heebies and the jeebies just reading this thread, but Loveajax's story is probably going to keep me up tonight! We have mice often because we live in an old house in the middle of thousands of acres of mouse friendly environs. The worst rodent story (prior to reading Loveajax's!!!) happened to my mom. She had 3 younger brothers (poor thing!) and at one point in the childhood...
