The neuclotide sequence encoding 4 amino acids near the amino terminus of a 10 kd protien is 5'ACT GAT TGC GTT3'. this sequence is mutated by insertion of a single neuclotide(A) in the 2nd codon and becomes5'ACT GAA TTG CGT3'. which of the following consequences of this mutation is most likely? A) Altered cell cycle checkpoint B) Decreased rate of transcription C) Protien ...

Hi, *guess i may have posted on the wrong forum... sorrie folks!! I've encounter some problems in assigning charges to the amino acids..any advice on how to to go about it? Am i right to say: For basic amino acids: pH>pKa, net charge is -1; pHpKa, net charge is +1; pH

Just wondering if anyone out there is taking high doses of L-Arginine to help with overall general health in spinal cord patients. If so, How many grams a day do you take? Do you stack it with any other form of amino acid. Thank you.

( Hey wrighting from sweden. And i´v been reading a little about the relation between mercury and cystein, taurin and sulfates. That one or severel of these amino acids play a big role in the detox of the body. And to high or low causes problem with the bile. I did a hairanalysis and it showed high copper and also very low mercury/iron and mercury/selenium. My iron was low...

So my gym trainer (he's the only trainer there, because it's his gym) has the gym I'm in running for 24 years already, and he is a bodybuilding freak for 30+ years now. He has an MA in Exercise Physiology. So now he comes and tells me that the amino acids in the protein supplements are not enough, you have to buy a seperate tub of EAA's and BCAA's and supplement with those. Is that correct, ...

There is an interesting new study on leucine deprivation (2) and its mechanistic effects on adipose tissue as well as an earlier one on a novel hepatic mechanism of nutrient sensing that suggests that essential amino acids regulate fat storage, release, and other processes. In cultured hepatic cells , deprivation of any essential amino acid resulted in a reduction in fatty acid synthase (FAS) ...

Hello, I use some standard tables of amino acids pKa values, as the one here: http://www.cem.msu.edu/~cem252/sp97/ch24/ch24aa.ht ml and I am especially interested in the pKr (i.e. pKa of the side chains). Correct me if I'm wrong, but pKa values listed in such tables refer to a "free" peptide, as opposed to a peptide which is a part of a polypeptide. What I am interested in is to get some ...

My advice is to keep it simple and consider only one functional group location at a time. If the pH is less than the pKa, make sure that this group is in the protonated form. If the pH is greater than the pKa, remove the proton so that the group is in the deprotonated form. If the pH=pKa, draw both the protonated form and the deprotonated form as each exists in equal concentrations at this point....
