Instead of focusing the automotive future on more fuel efficient hybrid or even all electric vehicles, the big three are rehashing the muscle car era. The Chevy Camaro, Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger from the 60s have all been brought back to life. This is what Detroit has to offer us? Living in the past when gas was a quarter a gallon? Any day oil could spike back up and we'll see...

All of a sudden my wife wants to give up her trusty Toyota SUV for an American Muscle Car, She likes the Mustang Boss, but iam leaning toward a Vette or the Dodge Charger 6.1 Hemi Daytona. She saw the Challenger in a Walmart Parking lot and like that too. I like the Nissan 350Z but my wife thinks it looks too "plain" My wife doesnt like anything in BMW. for me it'd be a simple choice, mustang. ford is actually a pretty decent brand as far as medium term (10 years) durability and low maintenance cost goes, in my experience.

US car manufacturers are about to get wiped out. Nissan is introducing fully electric cars capable of going 90mph in 2010. Cities like Dublin are closing 1/2 the roads to combustion engine traffic.

agree with you Larry, I don't think I've ever had an american car that ran out of gas when it indicated the initial "E" - even those with digital read-outs. As someone mentioned there have been tests to see how far cars go once they indicate empty and many go a long long distance. If the manual had said 8.7 gal capacity (PERIOD) and we started putting in 9 gallons on a fill (which we ARE BTW...
