5052, 5083, & 5086 Aluminum are all listed for diesel fuel tanks. Aluminum Alloy 5052 Aluminum Alloy 5083 Aluminum Alloy 5086 Potable water tanks are most often polyethylene, or 300 series stainless. I wouldn't recommend aluminum for water tankage. __________________ Gord May ~~_/)_~~ (Gord & Maggie - "...

Hey guys I bought these rims so i could have larger better tires for the winters in my state, so it would pointless to swap over to the OEM rims and tires b/c the tires on them suck in the snow although i have thought about it. I'm up at school about 90min away from home not too bad but I'm lacking the garage and supplies to wash my truck as much as I do. What is a good product to put on my ...

I can't tell from the pics. But if the rim is polished aluminum (meaning bare aluminum) then they will get severely pitted even if you rinse them. I have American Racing Hopsters for my Sonoma and I used to remove them in the winter but one year it froze overnight and they salted the road and I had to drive to work. When I got home I rinsed them and washed them after I removed them and dried ...

When I see all three of these words together, Aluminum, Corrosion and Cracking it makes me wonder... Does SCC apply to our newer trailers? Maybe this is actually different.. "Aluminum alloys that contain appreciable amounts of soluble alloying elements, primarily copper, magnesium, silicon, and zinc, are susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking ( SCC )." Stress Corrosion ...

I talked to a guy that owned a Schwinn dealer before they tanked. He said Schwinn told them the 00-01 Homegrown frames were made of Scandium - Aluminum Alloys.

I like steel. I know that's not what you asked, but because I'm a masher, aluminum never seems to stand up to forces I place on the cranks and bottom bracket. A flexible metal always alloys my heavy ass some cushion.
