During a recent trip to the Dominican Republic in a beautiful all inclusive resort, I experienced 5 days of the worst food. Not only was the food flavorless but it was unidentifiable. I came across the weirdest combinations of foods. Strange cold salads, sushi (that looks liked it was flown in frozen), mystery meats, and very "cheezy" presentations. I eat everything and will try anything so I ...

Hello Next year we are going, with 7 of our family members, to Kuramathi for one week. We are on the Al a Carte All Inc which means that we can eat in any restaurant on the island. I am wondering how much and in what situations it is normal to tip e.g. Do you tip your breafast waiter every day or at the start and the end and how much? Do you tip ...

Hi! Any help would be greatly appreciated! We are a 35 year old married couple traveling with another couple and we are looking for a resort in the Cabo area that is not an all-inclusive, has no or very few kids, is fairly lively but not over the top, is nice but not as expensive as the Palmilla. We can spend up to $300 a night. Also, wanting something not too far from downtown where we...

We are planning a February trip to Mexico with another couple. We spend all of our time at the beach and swimming in the ocean. What resorts have the best beaches for swimming, body surfing and taking long walks. We have stayed at several large resorts in the past and have felt like the beaches were either too crowded (chairs on top of each other), not swimable, or only had a...

Hi All, This is our first trip to Jamaica , and to Montego Bay . We are staying at an all-inclusive and I am trying to find out whether I am allowed to tip, or is it really frowned upon. Any comments appreciate, Thanks!

I think Club Med is a French-owned company. I'm not sure. We love them- not the tacky-alcohol-drenched-pool-partying-fiestas of the 70's Club Meds (although I do miss those (money) necklaces). The food is OK, especially for families. The rooms usually suck, though. But who cares? You're too busy to ever be in your room!

After rereading your post I realize the PCP has every one of the prerequisites you stated. Small resort with 3 sister resorts in walking distance. No reservations at the restaurants, large pool with swim up bar. huge beach area, lots of activities and closeto PC shopping area(which isn't very large) Also a great price for a great resort.

It's usually acceptbale and standard to tip for good service just less than you would in the US. We tipped $5-$10 for dinner a couple of bucks for drinks and 5-10 for butler service at the Iberostar Grand in Oct. All of the workers went above and beyond so we didn't mind. We also brought with us school supplies to donate to the workers and a local school to try and help out. ...

SMB has the best beach but, if you don't want to spend the dollars for it, the Catalonia Playa Maroma sits right next to it and they share the same beach. It doesn't have the luxury rooms just a standard type of room. It's also a family resort so there may be children there also. Just depends on what you want to spend your dollars on.

Thanks for the clarification NegrilBride! It sounds very different when you put it in that perspective. I had also just left the tip on the table after a meal, I will now hand it to our server. Good to know!
