First off I want to stress that I am not at all interested in joining any form of military service. AT ALL. Okay, so here's my plan: Right now, I am a sophomore in high school. So: Finish high school and attend an aeronautical school of some sort or get at least a bachelors. After graduating, move to where the airlines headquarters are (Southwest, Alaska, or Delta are the ones in which...

1. Don't crash. 2. Don't sleep on the job? Â Not one but TWO northwest airline pilots may have fallen asleep at the wheel in a flight tonight and blew past their destination by more than 15o miles. They were out of contact with air traffic control for over an hour. Of course, they say they were having a really interesting conversation and didn't fall asleep. Â http://www.time.com/...

From what I’ve been hearing, there is going to be ahortage of pilots soon. I think I know why, this job sucks! Horrible initial pay and long hours. I considered this as a career. I don’t know if it is worth the $50k worth of training to even touch the requirements to be a pilot. I must say though, that I like aviation in general. I will still get my PPL as a hobby!

Do they know how to iron shirts? The FO had an ipod and walked on the airplane. Had a backpack. The Cap put a baseball cap on. Don't see that on majors. Flight was nice though..lol

I am new here, and would like to be a pilot, but why are there so many people saying "Don't be a airline pilot!" "Don't be a fractional pilot!" "Don't be a pilot, the industry is in the trash!" "Don't be a pilot, it too time consuming, expensive and ruins your family life!" I am serious, more than half the people on this forum are against flying and discourage people to become what they ...

H.R. 3371: Airline Safety and Pilot Training Improvement Act of 2009 deals with pilot hiring, training, and crew rest requirements. This bill was passed by the House on October 14, 2009 by a 409 to 11 margin and has been forwarded to the Senate. If enacted the bill would add tough new certification requirements for entry-level commercial pilots, require additional emergency training, ...

I got to RLG with my flying the last two months. The part of the contract that allows a trip with greater than 50 hour TAFB to be assigned out of leveling order needs to be changed. I bet more than 50 percent of our flying consists of trips that are greater than 50 TAFB.
